It has everything to do with it, 'cause like, when you decide to buy into "waaah waaaah I'm just so scared for the normal people" BS about how someone's "subhuman" or "a threat to the traditional family" or "hates humans", when you forget people are people, that's exactly the kind of place it always ends up leading! You don't get some kind of fancy "this is America" exemption for it! Do you think hate crimes don't exist here or something?

This is a democracy, and 99% of the elected officials are baseline. That government sent giant robots to attack a school five years ago, and humans are the ones who are threatened? As if! Give me a break! Like I'm super for democracy, but the really, really obvious issue with it is that you kind of have to be careful about the majority oppressing the minority!
