THE TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

"Fuck!"

Kaede had been just visiting the forest; dabbling at the edges, really, to look at the flowers and new buds and sprouting growing things and there was something too big scuttling around and--she hopped awkwardly backwards, one after the other until she stopped, vectors bristling ghost-shimmer bright from her back.

"Who's there?!"

It's almost instant that there is a amount of noise. That startled the feral enough to make her stumble and sit up rapidly before peeking out of the brush, twigs and leaves in her unkempt hair.

"...I here. Not bad, not hurt. Just looking to find thing."

She tilts her head and sniffs at the air a little bit, trying to figure things out on her own before trying to ask..since she knows not everyone really understood her.

Oh. It was a person.

...who didn't seem to think in words. At least, she didn't think so--she could actually understand some of the thoughts rolling off her. Just enough that the strange girl's body language made sense; Kaede didn't pry. Though she...kind of wanted to, this time. All of her mind seemed to be paying attention now, rather than just a fraction.

"Find what?" Her voice was decidedly less snappish and harsh now. She was still getting over her surprise, but her vectors dissipated.

It takes her a moment but a very faint and awkward smile crosses her face before she really tries to think of how to explain what she was looking for. Was she looking for old haunts, places she knew she could find people? Or was it the fact she wanted to keep her mind off of the fact she was here and not with her family this time? It was hard to say but she quickly settled on a simple answer..one that worked.

"Find friend. Find clan. Why you here?"

The simplistic answer didn't bother her very much; she found a better answer in other ways. There was a vague sense of being lost or isolated rolling off of this person that said more. Kaede's shoulders relaxed further, rather than stiffening in defensive hostility.

"I like trees," was all she said, along with a shrug. "Be nicer if they were orange, though." Or red, though there was a strangely magenta-colored tree here and there that confused the hell out of her. Flowers before leaves?

A giggle escapes her as Kisume fully emerges on all fours and sits, scratching at one ear lightly.

"It mean it get cold then. Hard to hunt and stay warm. Tree says beware."

Again, the complexity of it just changing the seasons isn't lost on her but to explain it was another story. There is a tiny smile though as she speaks again.

"Tree like you. You see warning but like it."
