THE TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

[The video turns on to show Cain taking up a threatening stance and looking at the camera as if he were staring down a hundred adversaries. As far as Cain is concerned he is.]

“Listen up- I’m going to tell you how this is gonna go. You bitches aren’t going to fuck with me. If I decide something is mine you don’t look at it, you don’t touch it, and you don’t go near it. You do what I tell you, and we’re going to get along fine.”

[Live Action]

Cain can be found easily, lounging around in the lobby and smoking. He recognizes, of course, that he isn’t supposed to be doing this and his body language just challenges someone to speak up. But for once Cain is quiet. He’s watching. Waiting. This place is new to Cain, and the people are still a mystery. He has to figure out quickly who he's going to trust, who’s going to be a problem…and more importantly, who he might prey on. It’s been far too long. If anyone shows any interest in Cain he’ll beckon them over with a whistle.

“See something you like?”

[Network]

[...This is hilarious. But he's gonna try and stick to a pleasant smirk.]

I guess you're the new trouble maker.

[He tries so hard to sound like he's taking Cain seriously, but... he's really not.]

[Cain snorts and leans back. He doesn't seem at all worried about the fact that a faculty member found his post. But at least he's not stupid enough to outright challenge Bigby.]

"I'm not here for trouble."

[But he definitely is. A former Brotherhood member doesn't just show up for nothing.]

Uh-huh.

[His eyes flash yellow as he nods, but a second later they're back to dark amber.]

Well, in that case, I might as well introduce myself. I'm the Big Bad Wolf, and I help with security around here.

[And teach combat, but that's less fun. And it's mostly his lack of confidence in his self-control that keeps him from just being a security guard.]

I wanna make this very clear, though - whatever you just said about bitches fucking with you isn't gonna fly on my watch. [He says in the tone of a parent trying to sound hip.] We're not gonna have any problems are we?

[His tone may be friendly, but his eyes are just challenging Cain to start shit.]

"No, sir. No problems."

[The response is awkwardly delayed as Cain tries to restrain himself. It's hard to take this man seriously, even if Cain knows he has to. At least now he's got an idea of where he needs to be careful.]

Good. For future reference, I can smell you anywhere on campus. Anywhere except for the dorms.

[Which is a flat out lie, there are no limits to his smell, but what Cain does with this information will say a lot about him, and that makes him easier to track.]

Speaking of which, aren't you a little young to be smoking?

[Well that's going to be incredibly inconvenient. Finding a way around something like that won't be easy.]

"What would give you that idea?"

Well, if you've got some ID I won't bother you about it.

[Sheriff instincts die hard.]

[What a fucking asshole. Cain rolls his eyes and tosses his cigarette on the floor before snuffing it out with his foot. Not being able to smoke with this guy around is going to be a real pain... What kind of adult does that anyway?]

"Anything else?"

[Most adults, Cain. Most adults.]

Yeah, bring your cigarettes to my office. I don't want to have to remind you not to smoke them, it's better to leave them with me. And next time don't bully the other students where I can hear you.

[Which is everywhere on campus. He'll find you.]

"Got it."

[He's just going to casually agessively forget to do that. Bigby isn't his mom he doesn't get to tell Cain what to do. Cain just won't...outright defy him.]

[Unlucky for Cain, Bigby's used to his type.]

I mean it. You don't want to be in trouble on my watch.

[But there's no way in hell Cain is giving up his cigarettes.]

"Yes, sir. I'll be on my best behavior."

Let's hope so. Bring your smokes to me by the end of the day, or I'll come pick them up myself.

[Whether or not he has to break a door to get it.]

"That was my last one."

[A complete lie, of course.]

"I have nothing to give you."

Uh-huh. See you later today.

[Said using his teacher voice just to emphasize how much he doesn't believe Cain.]

"Great. I'll be waiting."

[He'd better hide his cigarettes somewhere safe.]

[Cain's room will be emptied of any cigarettes and booze by the end of the day, and all attempts to stop Bigby will end in smashed furniture. Thank you for choosing Wolf Express.]

Zancrow arched his eyebrow at the student. He could tell this guy was trouble. Not as much trouble as himself of course.

"Yeah, your cigarette. Can I bum one?"

[Cain's first instinct was to tell the guy to shove off, but...no. He seemed alright, if not a little strange. So instead of arguing Cain pulls the pack out of his pocket and offers it to Zancrow.]

"That can't be the only thing."

[It'd be a little sad if the guy just wanted a cigarette.]

[Zancrow takes one and hands the pack back to Cain. Placing it between his lips and holds his finger to the tip. A small black flame appears at the tip of his finger, lighting the cigarette. He takes a deep drag, and then exhales, tension visibly leaving his shoulders]

"I'm always up for a fight."

[He smirks]
