Character Name: Gilberte de Rais (female AU of Gilles de Rais/Caster from Fate/Zero)
Character Journal: [personal profile] monstrueuse
Canon: Fate/Zero

Brief Personality: An unstable art lover who enjoys violent imagery. Gregarious, friendly, and eccentric, but extremely unreliable, unless you're one of her favorite people. If she had a yearbook quote, it might be, "Somehow or other I'll be famous, and if not famous, I'll be notorious."

Brief AU History: Gilberte, although an oddball, lived a relatively normal life as a French schoolgirl in Brittany. Her world primarily revolved around her best friend, but when that friend, a mutant rights activist, was killed by anti-mutant extremists at a mutant rights rally, Gilberte lost her mind. Her powers exploded into full force, and she caused a bloody incident that was infamously known as Le Massacre de Louvre. If you'd like to know more, her app is here.

Joined School: She's technically been at the school for more than a year, but she was in a holding cell for the first several months. She's been out and about for a few months, though. She's currently living on the 1st floor of the girls' dormitory, and her roommate is Catherine Fujishima.

Plans/CR seeking/other ideas: Anything! Gilberte especially loves creative people, so she would be drawn to other characters in the arts. She's also in the theatre club, so I'll be doing something with that. There may be a play in the future. Any fellow theatre club members or people to recruit would be great. Gilberte is very pro mutant rights, but for her own selfish reasons. I would like to get her involved with that, but she is a questionable ally to have. She also has a very dangerous power, which some people would love to have access to, so the administration keeps an eye on her.

On an average day, Gilberte skips class a lot and hangs out outside or in the art rooms. She's in the process of making a "haunted forest" by mutating trees to create a very creepy little corner of her own on campus.

As she was in the news, any characters are welcome to put two and two together and know about her past.

Is it okay to make Test Drive threads game canon?: Yes.

oh hey Flandre pretty much grew up near Nantes. So she definitely would have heard about her; if not directly, definitely through local news or her parents.

If she wasn't in isolation then, her parents were probably doubly careful to keep Flandre under the radar since her mutation was both very dangerous (destruction) and not very well controlled then. She kind of got a shitton of mutant power dumped on her head at once, but her family has always had feral mutations in it (claws, being able to see in the dark, red eyes, her sister has batlike wings, one of her cousins is a werewolf, etc). The Scarlets have been around for a long time, too; maybe they interacted with the de Rais in the past?

Oh, excellent! Gilberte would be very excited to have another French student to talk to. She's quite patriotic, in a weird way. And yes, if she was in France at the time, she probably would have heard about it. Gilberte doesn't exactly make a secret of it.

I would certainly be up for having some history between the Scarlets and the de Rais. That sounds like a great idea, actually. Gilberte loves history and lineages, due to her own ancestry, so she would be all over that.

The Scarlets seem to get involved with maybe-serial killers no matter what, haha (in canon their maid has a maybe-Jack the Ripper motif but nothing is actually confirmed or denied thanks ZUN).

Since both families seem to have overt mutants here and there, they might have helped each other out in the past if someone needed a place to hide; Gilberte and Flandre could maybe share a common ancestor somewhere (like, way distant ancestor) too.

Or their vaguely similar appearance (freakishly tall and lanky with claws) is coincidental but Gilberte is free to interpret otherwise, haha.

Initially Flandre wouldn't quite know what to make of her; both wanting to talk to her because omg someone else with a Breton accent (since her sister's returned home the latter is a big deal to her) and being vaguely distressed because this is the person her parents told her not to be but she makes polite conversation what do??

Haha, it's fate!

Gilberte is all about imagining connections with people that don't exist, so she might come to a conclusion like that, or think that they are somehow spiritually linked, regardless of their actual connection. She gets a lot of odd ideas.

Gilberte is all about Bretagne, too, so she will be so very pleased, and will probably not notice any reluctance on Flandre's part, or will just ignore it if she does.

I can have Gilberte hit up Flandre's most recent post, if you like—or, Gilberte has a top level up at the newsreel mingle. Let me know if you have a preference. I imagine there's a good chance they would have already met, since Gilberte has been around for a few months, but if you'd like them to meet for the first time, that works for me, too.

(HER SISTER COULD MANIPULATE THAT IN CANON TOO this is hilarious to me)

Hm. She's in a...not great mood initially on that log, but right after she gets out from the infirmary she'll be temporarily better and more approachable because yay painkillers! If still in need of washing her hands.

I think they would have met a few times before, yeah (Flan would think Gilberte is a bit weird). She could pester Flan about losing a fang, maybe?

I can't immediately think of a tag for the mingle one, so that would work!

Dolorous Liir here has kindof gotten into the position of unofficial leader or at least organizer of all mutant radicals in the school. Also his mother was a 'witch'...

Well, Gilberte is definitely a mutant radical. She believes mutants are superior and has a deep hatred of anyone opposed to mutant rights. She is difficult to organize, but she would be willing to help.

She would be impressed by the "witch" thing as well, especially as heritage is very important to her.

I'd love for them to interact more.

Is she interested in joining Team Social Dysfunction Gene Nation?

Right now, she's on Team 4, but I'll see how things go with her on that team. So far, she likes them, but who knows what might happen. Gilberte can be a liability.
