I wonder how bad it would look if everybody knew each other's body count. [Adachi might look pretty good by comparison!] But when the X-Men do it, they're heroes. If a soldier kills someone, it's supposed to be better than a random person doing it, but the dead people are just as dead, no matter what.

You've probably killed more people than me. I've only killed a few.
