THE TEST DRIVE MEME
Hello, True Believers!
This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.
Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!
Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag, as well as the weekly updates to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

Nope, she couldn't keep it in. "You know what we used to call people that used to do stuff like this?" She didn't wait for him to respond. "Dorks."
Her grin faded a bit as she reached over to one of the cards with her metallic fingers, poking at it curiously. Somehow that thought made her feel... sad? Huh. "I never used to get the appeal."
Re: 2
Not going to stop her poking the cards, though, just raising a hand in case she's the sort to mess with them further. "I understand. It's not for everyone... but the potential strategy and combinations of possibilities available in play intrigue me." Yep, still a dork.

"Or maybe I just was never very good at thinkin'." Hopefully a little self-deprecation would help, here.
"How are yah supposed to play?"

Still, at least she's given him something he can show off his knowledge of, and he's always happy to do just that. Or at the very least, give it a good shot. "Each player plays the role of a general in an interstellar battle, with a certain number of lives to their name. These cards represent the various resources and units available to them - some of which attack the other player directly, some of which affect other cards. By strategically deploying the cards in the deck, the intention is to reduce the other player's life total to zero... I hope I'm being clear enough?"

"I think so..." She looked down at things. "But if I had so many lives, could I let one of them go home?"
She was half-teasing and half-serious.

"Alright, so, we both draw cards and then we see who can last the longest, is that it?"

"...what, we get to play with two decks of cards? Can't we just play with one?" Seriously? This was already looking waaay too complicated. She was already starting to feel like a goober.

"...but then how is that fair?"

"Well, if we're doing the same deck, we're drawing from the same cards. That's fair, because it's all on chance."

"I dunno..." She hesitated, looking at the picture of the card in her hand. "It sounds pretty fishy, ta me."

The girl smiled. "'know what? I think I'll see you play a game with somebody else, first."
"What's you're name, d-" She was about to say "dork" again, but caught herself at the last minute. Boy, this socializing thing was tough!

She learns best by watching, not by listening. Which isn't to say she didn't appreciate the effort. "Catherine."
"It's nice t'meetcha Theodore! Are yah new too?"

"Well, yeah, that's because you're a dork!"

At that, Catherine has no choice but to laugh. "No, but it's fun!"

"You don't have to act so glum about it. That's what friends do. Y'know?" She nodded. "You can call me names too, if yah like."
