Toshizou Hijikata | Peacemaker Kurogane
Character Journal:
Canon: Peacemaker Kurogane
Brief Personality: Hijikata is an aloof, critical hardass with about 0 tolerance for foolishness and shenanigans. He is not taking your, or anyone's, dumb shit, and will let them know it. But it's mostly because he worries that you'll all get yourselves killed if he doesn't help you toughen the Hell up, and actually he really cares a lot. Kind of in Grieving Widower Mode right now. Blames himself for everything, including but in no way limited to the circumstances of the previous statement. Get to know him well enough, and he'll seem like a whole different person than he does on first impression.
Brief AU History:
-From Japan
-Like half his family died because of
tuberculosisno wait this is an AU, toxic air pollution in his hometown-Bloomed early, re: mutation and also re: getting all the ladies and some of the gentlemen
-Was a rebellious little shit in basically every possible way as a teenager
-Met Souji through their families, was his mentor, stopped being quite such a little shit
-They both came to Xavier's 14 years ago so Hijikata could do the college thing without discrimination. Studied history, and also literature on the side.
-Became an X-man, started teaching 10 years ago
-Eventually: ~Scandalous teacher-student affair!~ Except Souji wasn't that much younger, was legal, wasn't his student, had known him forever, and started it, AND they kept it fairly quiet. Still, man. They were kind of inseparable. It wasn't that hard to guess at.
-Got his ass kicked along with the other X-Men during the first Sentinel incident. On live nationwide TV.
-The Phoenix Thing happened, Souji disappeared. ANGST. GRIEF. PROBABLY MISPLACED GUILT.
-Kept working here because here is pretty much home now
Joined School: 14 years ago, fall semester, as a college freshman
FOR RETURNING CHARACTERS any important information to fill in between the last time the game was open and now?: The main thing to note is that his snarky assholery has shifted towards quiet detachment since the Phoenix Incident and Souji's disappearance. He's not as easily riled up as he used to be, and seems a little more aware of people's emotions (but less likely to share his own). This is a small change, but very noticeable if you know him well enough to see the signs of it
Other than that? He's been teaching, doing kendo, and X-man-ing, the same as normal.
Plans/CR seeking/other ideas:
-Old CR who'll be able to tell that he's
cripplingly depresseddifferent ever since the incident-Relatedly, people who were at the Institute more than 4 years ago may have inklings about him and Souji?
-Good students to quietly encourage on occasion!
-Bad students to make him facepalm!

-Quiet, intense, ambitious kids to see himself in in a good way
-Rebellious asshole kids to see himself in in a bad way

If a canon mate comes along I might retcon Takakage's backstory to make him an actual reincarnationI'm hiatusing from 9/16 to 10/01, and the IC reason will be Takakage going back to Singapore and/or Japan for some family business. Maybe they can have a talk about it after he returns to the institute?
