Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

A. Radio Rebel - (It's an anonymous podcast/blog so it's outside the school's intranet on the real internet.)
Alright, guess it's time to come clean about who I really am.

I... am a mutant, like Dazzler and all the other mutants coming out, I know it doesn't mean much, given that being nameless is my thing. But just because I'm nameless doesn't mean I'm faceless. I'm just like anyone else, except I have freaky mutant powers. No, I'm not purple, and I can't fight crime or anything like that. But it's a part of me, a me I don't let the rest of the world see.

But, for you guys, since I know you love me, you get to know that's a part of who I am. Now, I got a new single from Dazzler on the subject that I'm sure everyone will enjoy...

B. Tara - Network - Voice
I was- um... wondering, if someone could catch me up on the classes I- um, missed?

*Quieter... which is a shock given she was already really on the shy side.* I don't want to be any trouble.

C. Tara - Action
*See that quiet little thing desperately trying to blend into the wall listening to what looks like a heavily modified mp3 player? The one who looks scared of her own shadow and has no idea how to people? Go pester her.*

[Says a somewhat robotic voice somewhere behind her, in the near vicinity of the roof. Thanks, tall genes.

Zian does his best to not look too scary, wearing a t-shirt with a cartoon bubble saying 'hello nurse' on it under his lab coat. It just makes his alienness seem more alien, but hey. Mutant school.]

*To say the girl jumped is putting it mildly.*

I- Myself... Made it.

*Don't take it personally, she's about this articulate with any new person. The fact you're a tall robotic sounding alien is not making her that much more completely incapable at people.*

[Hey, he's not surprised. Instead, he crouches down a bit because seven feet is really damn high when you try to talk to teens.

When he speaks, however, he's using ASL, and it's his translating mask that makes the robotic voice.]

Really? That's cool!

[He'd smile, but his face is mostly teeth and that would just be awkwarder.]

Hello, Tara. I'm Zian, and I'm the school nurse.

*Screaming involves being able to make noise, something Tara is quite incapable of most of the time.*

[He looks mildly confused.]

*Look, it is a very awkward question because you're very large and could take that personally. Also it involves talking. Out loud. To a person.*

[Oh. Well, he wasn't surprised about that question.]

I'm a mutant, just like everyone else here. I'm from Russia, I like TV and my mom calls me at least once a day. A normal guy, just looking a little different.

[sheisntshy]

*Come on, you can say a little bit more than that.*

*She holds up her mp3 player, since she has run out of her ability to speak.*

Nah, that's fine. My dad made a similar one for me just before I left to come here. Thank you, though!

[She was a cute kid and Zian kind of feels bad for making her nervous.]

Built this translator, too. He's handy like that; makes tech do what he wants with his mind.

Translator?

*She's good with technology, she could feel the technology around, but she didn't feel like prying or just asking it to explain itself. That would be rude.*

[Oh look, he made her interested! Socializing is good, right? It still makes him feel awkward, but if he's supposed to take care of this kid's medical needs surely he needed to make sure he didn't freak her out.]

I can't speak, so my father built me a translator that reads sign language. Like... um... like Siri only for movements.

-By this point, Kyouko's miracle ears have firmly secured that the voice from that podcast and the voice of this specific student are one in the same. She'd been trying to find a way to ask the girl to help her with the campus station without spooking her... maybe this was her in.-

Depends on the class. And don't worry, it's no trouble. I can recite lectures from memory with my powers. Or, rather, I can play them back for you.

*Which is certainly impressive detective work, getting a voice sample from Tara is like pulling teeth.*

*There's an empty pause in the audio before Tara remembers she's doing this voice only so nodding does not help.*
