THE TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

Dick just chuckles as he accepts the hand, lightly jumping up so Alric doesn't have to take too much of his weight. Hey, he might look scrawny for his age, but that doesn't mean his body mass isn't nearly completely made up of muscle.

And while Dick's never had to attend any of Bruce's social galas rubbing shoulders with the high society in general, he keeps his eyes on who's who so recognises Alric fairly quickly. "It happens. Dick Grayson."

Alric's at least older and a bit bigger, and in excellent shape, himself. Exercise as a vehicle to self-control does have that side effect.

"Ah, a pleasure to make your acquaintance, then. And my apologies, by the way. I'd intended to see that everything was all right with a minimum of disruption, which.. rather seems to have fallen through."

"It's cool. The chances of me actually falling to my death from a building are pretty slim," he shrugs.

"Indeed? ...I suppose I could say the same, at least relatively speaking. A particular gift of yours?"

"Grew up in the circus." And the result of extensive training and his recently discovered enhancements, but anyway.

"Really. Interesting. The circus to which I'm accustomed, I'm afraid, is of a quite different, less enjoyable character. You're here for.... something else, then..?"

"I'm a student with an enhanced physiology that makes professional acrobats look like toddlers trying to do flips while waist-deep in mud, if that's what you're asking," he answers, smiling still. "You?"

"Ahh, impressive. A little more complicated, I suppose, in my case, but ah... generation and control of ambient gas plasma. I've had little opportunity, before coming here, to learn to do more than contain it."

"Plasma, huh? You could learn how to make your own fireworks to impress your dates," he jokes, though his mind's racing through what he remembers about this particular prince in the news- ah, right, the incident with the school bully way back when.

Various uninteresting things like ambassadorial assignments, and so on, recently, following a year or two of hiatus from the public eye. That hiatus followed a bit of a scandal over an college freshman nobleman--a good few years older than Alric--challenging the prince to a duel and winding up narrowly surviving second- and third-degree burns when it went too far. Since there had been faults on both sides, it wasn't deemed criminal on either side, but it's probably clear why he put that emphasis on containment.

Alric chuckles lightly at Dick's suggestion, though.

"...ah... yes, I suppose, something like that. ...for now, though, I imagine I ought to work on controlling the motion and the shape."

...rather than fireworks, or rather than dating? Maybe both.

Clearly it's both.

"Control is always good, but you've also got to learn not to be too uptight about it, otherwise things just explode," he shrugs. Again, is he talking about fireworks or dating?

Yeah the exploding can definitely happen.

"...ah... yes, well, it's certainly important to maintain a... release valve, so to speak, as well."

... Are they still talking about the same thing-

"Better than accidents happening when you don't want them to."
