THE TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

You're not making my job easy, kid, you know that? All right, all right, let's wander off instead.

[Adachi doesn't really want to, because he doesn't care, but he knows they're keeping an eye on him, so he follows the rules. And protecting students is one of the rules. Still, annoyed though he is, he adopts a friendly tone, not chastising her.]

So, where ya going?

Nowhere. Why are you following me?

Uh, because I'm a security officer.

[Oh wait, did he forget to mention it? Well, it was heavily implied! Why else would he be enforcing curfew?]

It's my job to make sure you're safe.

[What a laugh.]

If you've got a pass, hand it over, and I'll say no more!

How do I know you actually work here and you're not just some weirdo?

You can check with any of the staff. And I have my ID.

[There it is, official Institute photo ID badge! It's all shiny and stuff. Might not be proof he's not a weirdo, but it is proof he works there.]

I think a weirdo would rather have you go off somewhere, I just want you to go safely back to your dorm.

-Kagerou... sniffed the ID. Well, it was legitimate by that test, she supposed. Still, this guy was being way too nice. If he was one of the faculty, shouldn't he be yelling at her or something? She backed away, still suspicious.-

I want to sleep outside.

Why do you want to sleep outside, kid? It's cold and uncomfortable. No bed, no heating, and lots of rocks and sticks and stuff. Besides, if something happens, they have to know where you are. That's a big part of the whole "thing" here.

[Adachi saw zero point in yelling at students. What a pointless exercise. 1. He didn't care. 2. They didn't learn.]

Wolves sleep outside. It's normal for me.

Okay, kid. Wolf. Whatever. If you think you need to sleep outside—if it were up to me, I'd say go ahead, lie on the ground like a wolf, but you need permission, so you've got to see one of the higher ups first!

Otherwise, I'm gonna have to go get senior faculty.

[He shakes his head. Don't make him do this. He doesn't want to. They're all a pain to deal with.]

-After a moment of thinking it over, Kagerou let out a defeated whine and shuffled over to him, head hung low and tail tucked behind her leg.-

It's not fair... I didn't ask to come here...

Ah, great! Didn't want to have to write up an incident report. Don't want to get you in any trouble.

[Mostly because he's lazy! But he makes it sound like it's because he's friendly.]

Join the club. Me neither. But, and I know you've probably heard this a lot, but it's true ... life's not fair!

[He keeps smiling as he heads back toward the Girls' dorm, expecting her to accompany him.]

... Try not to sound so cheerful when you say stuff like that. It's creepy.

[Adachi widens his eyes.]

But what good is being sad about it going to do? It's not going to change it, is it? Do you think it does you much good, getting upset about things no one can change?

I... I dunno... -She sighed. A typical teenaged response, probably, but at least something of what he said got to her, intentional or not.-

Think about it! If things are going to be unfair anyway, why not enjoy yourself as much as possible?

I'm not sure if that's more or less miserable.

That's up to you to decide!

But if you want to sleep outside on the ground, why not do it? Just be more careful next time. Don't get caught, because I gotta bring you in.

[For a security guard, he doesn't seem to care too much about her potential rule-breaking. Well, it doesn't sound like such a big deal to him.]
