THE TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

Well, naturally. It has influence over... many things, other than that, as well. I just wanted to make sure you don't resent it for that. If it's comforting... I may be able to... help.

Well, no, I don't quite resent it... But I do wish I had more control.

Either way, the moon is an important thing to my people. Or... was... -It's hard referring to the wolves in past tense, still.-

[Her smile turns sympathetic at the wish for more control. It may not be the moon, but there's aspects of her own power she can't control. And it affects her negatively, as well.

She swivels around in her chair a bit, and stands up to walk over to the shelf behind her, where a somewhat elaborate carving of the moon sits.]

Where I'm from... [She pauses, trying to figure out how to word it. It's not so easy in something other than Japanese.] The moon also is... very important. For different reasons. No one's... a wolf there. At least I don't think. Even more than the sun, the island's god of choice is... the moon. [She rests her hand atop the carving, and cants her usual smile over her shoulder at Kagerou.] Because of this... I might be able to help. If you would like something symbolic.

You mean Tsukiyomi? -Kagerou looked at the carving, tilting her head quizzically.- Never really been religious, myself...

Not... necessarily Tsukuyomi. Our customs are a little different. [She pauses, then laughs, softly.] The moon itself, not as represented with a god, but as it is. Where... the lunar eclipse is sacred. The moon is the soul.

Still, it means the Tsukimori Miko make interesting charms and other trinkets.

... It is really beautiful. I like it.

[Well that seems to settle that - Kagerou gets to get a little trinket from Rougetsu.

Not the moon thing, obviously, it's kind of huge, but something else from Gesshou, probably.]

Now. Is there anything else that helps keep you calm and settled at night? Do we need to change your schedule around some so you can stay up later... Within your room? Or something to make you sleep earlier?

... I dunno. I'm just... I wish I wasn't here. I wish I didn't have to be here. -Things were better when it was just her and her mother.-

[Sakuya's smile turns a little pained, and she returns to her seat.] I know. I'm sure if it... [She stops and seems to think better of speaking on it.] ... I know. [Well it's either here, or she goes back to... brain surgeries and attempts to cure her.]

The world is... an unsafe place at the moment. We have a safe haven here. It is not perfect and... I won't pretend it is. But as things are...

It's better. And, there is safety in numbers.

I was safe with Mamma... I could have done fine on my own, with what she'd taught me...

I don't doubt that you could have survived. [She presses her fingers together.] I wonder if it wouldn't have... become very lonely though.

I-I could have made friends! I couldn't be the only one out there...

And what is so different from making friends here?

It's not on my terms...

[She's stuck between being stubborn and being kind at the moment, and she's starting to realize where it's coming from, but instead of retreating, she does what she thinks is necessary.]

Are you not able to make friends on your terms here? They are all being forced to be your friends...? [It's less a prying question, and more an honest one. She'd help if she could, but she has to balance the knowledge that the poor girl is young and obviously homesick with the fact she's safer at the academy.]

I... I dunno. -Kagerou's ears lowered as she ducked her head.-

[Sakuya tightened her neck against the sudden urge to bow, as well. It seemed their conversation would either have to come to an end soon, or she'd end up... probably feeling things and knowing things she didn't need to at the moment.]

Things will definitely be alright. It's hard now. I know it is... but I have faith... you'll grow close to people here. You'll come to like them... and maybe then you'll become more hesitant to leave.

You need time, though, and you should take your time. If you need me to help you find some, let me know. I am more than willing to... fix your class schedule for now to work around... adjusting. But I must urge you to please... stay in your dormitory room after curfew.

And if you need to speak to anyone about anything... you can come to me. [If nothing else, she could distract the girl waxing nostalgic about what little she remembered of Rougetsu Island before things kind of went to hell.]
