THE TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!


Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

"It's very nice here," he said, nodding. "I don't think I've seen a school this impressive before, and the people are very friendly."

"That's really how we are here. For a lot of us, our classmates are the closest to family we've got. For others, it's something simpler - identity. We fit in here like nowhere else."

She chuckled. "Doctor Carlyn Caimbeulach, librarian."

Yu froze for a second or two at that last name, but smiled and bowed slightly. "It's nice to meet you, Doctor."

"Just Carlyn, please. And, uh, is something up with my name, if I might ask?"

She caught that. That was kind of embarrassing.

"Nothing's wrong," he explained. "I just don't think I'll ever be able to pronounce the second part."

"Irish is an odd dialect, I'll admit. It's nice to have a more distinctive name, though. It reflects my heritage."

[yu_mad]

He nodded. "To be honest, my name is pretty strange in Japanese, too. It hasn't really been a problem, though."

"Around here, no one's likely to know the difference. Handy part of being in a country that speaks a different language. Or dialect in my case."

That was definitely an advantage of moving around, or so Yu'd noticed. When you were always in a different environment, no one really knew anything about your but what you told them.

"...it's good to learn new things, though," he responded. "Anyway, I think I can say 'Carlyn' well enough."

"That's good, yeah. And an enthusiasm for learning will get you far around here. So many attend here solely worried about becoming one of the X-Men, but there's more to school than that, you know?" Carlyn chuckled a bit. As one of the librarians, that passion was important to her job, after all...
