THE TEST DRIVE MEME
Hello, True Believers!
This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.
Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!
Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

More like I was in charge of stopping trouble. Didn't really matter who was starting it, just that I shut them up. [Groan.] I guess it's nicer to tell people I stopped criminals but more often than not I was just keeping their secrets safe.
...Mind me asking what's such a shame about knowing you?

So it didn't matter if you thought they were good or bad, you were just doing your job, taking them out.

You can ask. It's okay. I don't talk about it, but I got into a lot of trouble back in Japan. That's why I had to come here. Ah... some people died. And it was my fault. But they don't tell people about it. I guess killers on campus look bad for them or something!
[Adachi doesn't usually tell people these things, but this guy killed people too. Anyway, he doesn't have anything to lose, since he doesn't care if people like him.]
But a lot of those X-Guys have killed people. It's not too weird.

But... I guess it all depends on which side the people you kill are on. A lot of times criminals and clean folks have the same sins...
...And after all the laws I've broken I'm still here caring for the next generation, if that doesn't tell you something's wrong...

I wonder how bad it would look if everybody knew each other's body count. [Adachi might look pretty good by comparison!] But when the X-Men do it, they're heroes. If a soldier kills someone, it's supposed to be better than a random person doing it, but the dead people are just as dead, no matter what.
You've probably killed more people than me. I've only killed a few.

A soldier or an X-Man gets a pardon because he was working for the government. All that means is politicians are no different from kingpins.

Yeah, throwing their muscle around. But it's okay when they do it! Though they kill more people than the rest of us put together.
[Not that Adachi has a moral objection to the killing. But it's funny how it's okay with people sometimes.]
Ah, I haven't directly killed anyone. They died because of me, though, so... I scared them to death, you could say. So I don't really know a count. They could have had heart attacks or fallen down the stairs anyway.

I guess I don't quite have a body count either. But that'd be because... I lost count. Army, agency jobs, hit man jobs, et cetera... I took this job mostly because I figured I couldn't hurt anyone this way. But there's always time to fix that. Somehow.

But it depends on how you count. It was a small town, and I got caught. They made me come here after that, I guess to keep an eye on me. I'm kind of under arrest. Or "undergoing rehabilitation". But it's better than prison!
Right, if we get attacked, you'll probably have to hurt someone, so don't count it out yet.

Adachi, for his part, feels no reluctance. Although his power is actually more of a defensive one—unfortunately, from his perspective. So if some powerful enemy appears, he's pretty sure he's screwed. Actually scoring a victory would be amusing though, and he would not object to killing someone.]
"Sad saps", that's a good one. I like it. Is it like "poor suckers"?
[Adachi is always looking for chances to add to his English idioms. He studies a lot, and as he's been in the U.S. for a fair amount to time now, his English is good.]
