THE TEST DRIVE MEME
Hello, True Believers!
This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.
Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!
Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

Nah. Better to keep this kind of thing off the books, yeah? Wouldn't want to get a student in hot water with the higher-ups over a harmless prank.
[Also then there'd just be more paperwork when he forcibly dumps the person responsible across state lines.]

[While he does try to follow the rules (most of the time), Adachi is lazy and would rather not.]
Lots better, but I had to check. You know, some people complain about how security doesn't do anything.
[Are those people right? Could be...]
What kind of liquor is it?
[Adachi says this with a trace of wistfulness. He isn't technically allowed to drink here. It may sound like he's considering keeping an eye out for the booze, but he's only curious.]

[It is possible that Al is not being entirely sincere, contemptible as he makes the digs at the Institute's security sound.
He shrugs.]
Whiskey. Just a little something I brought from home to see me through the day. Spend enough years running a bar, you get used to having a bottle in reach.

[Adachi may not be entirely sincere either, so he understands. He is not the most dedicated public safety officer in the world. Or even on campus.]
Whiskey. Ah, sounds good. I've never had a lot of that. Hey, you need it teaching the kids here! Wish they let us drink on the job. I could use the help.

[Al sinks into an easy smile.]
Tell you what, you happen to spot the brat who made off with this, holler, and we can split the day's spoils.
I still got another fuckin' class left to go, anyways.

[He keeps the forced smile on his face, but he couldn't exactly accept the offer, even if he had some kind of power that would allow him to find a bottle of whiskey hidden somewhere on this huge campus.]
All right, you're on. I'll take you up on that.
[Since he has absolutely no intention of looking for it, then he doesn't have to reveal that he's forbidden from drinking, like he's some kid.]
Fortunately for me, I've got no class.
[Okay that pun was pretty bad, but he's proud of himself for managing an English pun nonetheless. Progress!]

[Though Adachi's reply seems to have snuffed out whatever hope Al had of recruiting him as a useful second hand at hunting down his liquor. His ingratiating turns into a dull stare, before he gives a half-shrug.]
Sounds merciful. They got you making rounds, then? Nosing out which student's cutting class to grow weed out of the dorms...? Though, personally, I always figured any local supply had to come from that garden our Queen of Sheba headmistress' got going...

[Nope, Adachi is almost aggressively non-useful! It's a real talent.]
Who me? I'm mostly perimeter, you know—if you ever wondered what poor guy patrols all the exciting, empty parts of the estate, you're looking at him. So I deal with people trying to get out and people trying to get in. Or I would, if that happened a lot.
[There's other staff with powers better suited to finding pot and other illicit substances like that. Not that he never looks for contraband or goes on patrol in other areas, but when you're not allowed to enter half of the dorms, it doesn't make you very useful in that department.]
I don't know much about that stuff. You'd have to ask one of the other guys. I've never been in there. But if she's growing it, it's automatically not a problem. I don't want to get on her bad side. That's a case of legality by association.

Border patrol, huh? Must be a lot of marching the fuck around.
[Al swivels around, turning away from Adachi and the desk to look off towards the door. Since this guy's no help, obviously he needs to decide where to start hunting for drunken delinquents. His tone's distracted as he answers back.]
Important work, though. Wouldn't want a flock of geese settling in without the esteemed Professor's say-so or whatever the fuck.
