THE TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

[There's a small twitch of annoyance before Tatsuya responds.] This is entirely hypothetical. Just hear me out.

If it's entirely hypothetical, it's entirely pointless!

[The greatest debater of all time, Eren Yeager!]
paradoxist: (Hey hey, hell is what you make)

I don't have an angry enough icon for Tatsuya oops

[personal profile] paradoxist 2014-11-05 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
[Tatsuya sucks in a breath. He's trying to remain calm about this but Eren is... not making it easy.]

It's not entirely pointless because I have a point I'm trying to make! You're just not listening!

[... so much for remaining calm.]
garganteren: (04)

I'm really sorry Eren is so frustrating, Tatsuya

[personal profile] garganteren 2014-11-05 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe if your point was so good, you wouldn't need a hypothetical to make it.

[And he huffs. He's tired of everyone disagreeing with him and treating him like he's stupid or worse.]
paradoxist: (Rise against your fate)

well he wouldn't be Eren if he wasn't frustrating

[personal profile] paradoxist 2014-11-05 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't need to do it if you'd shut up and listen. People have legitimate reasons, legitimate fears for this kind of thing. [He rips the paper that the stick figures were drawn on out of the notebook.] The short version is that a registration act would put a target on every mutant's back, regardless of whether they're the biggest douche in the universe or near saintly... regardless of whether they want their powers or not, regardless of whether they use their powers or not.

[He crumples the paper up before tossing it into the trash.] The situation isn't as simple as you're making it sound.
garganteren: (09)

you make an excellent point

[personal profile] garganteren 2014-11-05 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
But you wanted me to listen to your hypothetical, and I don't like hypotheticals.

[That is a logical reason to be stubborn and not listen.]

I'll listen to something else!

[Possibly.]

Maybe it's not as simple as that, but it's not going to mean all the mutants are hunted down, either. It's about protecting people! We can't just do nothing. Not when people have incredible powers like they do, dangerous powers. Mutants are more dangerous than guns. Some of them are more like nuclear weapons, even. They should be regulated.
paradoxist: (Listen up,listen up)

as much as Tatsuya probably hates the conversation, I'm loving the thread

[personal profile] paradoxist 2014-11-05 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
You don't sound like you'll listen to anything.

[Tatsuya Suou, master of tact.]

You're too idealistic. Tch... not to mention... who made guns and nuclear weapons in the first place? Humans! Do you think we mutants choose to have our powers? Do you think we choose what we get?!

Would you really judge the middle-schooler who hurt a couple of bullies because he lost control of his powers on accident more harshly than, I dunno, a baseline human who commits murder in the first degree?!
garganteren: (06)

I'm so glad! Now Tatsuya knows how Jean feels.

[personal profile] garganteren 2014-11-05 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I will. I just didn't want to listen to some long, fake story!

[Tatsuya, you have met your match in tact! Or lack thereof.]

You can't be too idealistic. What's wrong with ideals? And no one ever said humans don't do anything bad. That's not my point at all! There are still people keeping track of nuclear weapons and who has them, or trying to, and that's my point.

I know mutants don't choose! I'd do anything I could to give my power back! But I can't, so I'd sign up to be regulated.

[So there! This is some flawless arguing right here!]

No, I wouldn't, but I didn't say anything about that, either! All I talked about was making a list! What's your mutant power, putting words in people's mouths?
paradoxist: (Listen up,listen up)

[personal profile] paradoxist 2014-11-05 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, because regulating is gonna do a lot of good. [Tatsuya snorts derisively.] Because making a list of every mutant to 'regulate' them isn't gonna backfire horribly somehow. Like, oh, I dunno, people who want to use mutants as weapons now have a handy-ass little shopping list of what they have to choose from and where to find them!

[... One might get the feeling that struck a little close to home, as he's ignoring the rest completely.]
garganteren: (18)

[personal profile] garganteren 2014-11-07 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it is! So you're just saying we should do nothing, even though there are people who call themselves evil mutants who want to kill all the humans! We're just supposed to be nice and hope for the best. That won't work!

Uh, you can't say I'm wrong because it's going to backfire when that hasn't even happened. You can't prove it's going to go wrong.

[Eren doesn't get that feeling, because he's not that observant.]

And if they know the mutants are dangerous, then they'll know they can be used as weapons, so they can do something about it. Since that kind of thing already happens, what we're doing now isn't good enough.
paradoxist: (Listen up,listen up)

[personal profile] paradoxist 2014-11-07 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
You dumbass! I've had a friend taken to be used as a weapon! [He opens his mouth to yell something else but obviously thinks better of it.]

You know what? Forget it. You're too thick-headed to get it!
garganteren: (16)

[personal profile] garganteren 2014-11-07 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
That's why I think we should do something about it instead of doing nothing and acting like everything's going to be fine! We can't act like there isn't a war on!

I'm not thick-headed, you are!
