THE TEST DRIVE MEME
Hello, True Believers!
This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.
Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!
Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

Grell Sutcliffe | Kuroshitsuji
[Working here was turning out to be an "experience." While the job itself wasn't a far cry from everything she'd done in the past - file this paper, type up that invoice, answer the telephone, file her nails because it was all dreadfully dull - the people were new in all the right ways. Definitely underaged and therefore off limits, but new.
She'd never been around, what some would call, her own kind in such abundance before. Every hallway was filled with them chatting away, every classroom bustling with them testing their powers. And for once, school wasn't terrible.
Except that now she was the office lady wandering about trying to get students to fill in their damn paperwork. With a stack of blank forms for something or another (she hadn't really cared to look at the title), Grell stalked over to the nearest students, shoving a form into their hands.]
You. Sign this so I can get back to watching the hottie across the hall from my office.
B
[Sitting outside on the lawn was a great way to people watch, and an even better way to play "What Not to Wear: Grell Sutcliffe edition."]
Two points subtracted for that color coordination.
[But on the upside?]
Plus one for the hair though.
B - SUP
I assume you were addressing me?
B - SUUUP
[She says, emphatically gesturing to each article.]
But as I said, very nice on the hair.

Your own choice of palette is quite striking.
[ Especially the dress, but he isn't going to comment on that. Feliks had taught him that Americans usually had wilder fashion senses. ]
Thank you. I try my best. [ On the hair, he means. He's been told multiple times of its 'fluffy' qualities. ]
no subject
But less on that and more on your hair care. What conditioner do you use?
[ooc: As a note, Grell has a very definite British accent]
no subject
It takes a few moments, but he places the man's accent and doesn't comment on it. His own English is pronounced in the British fashion, with a faint Japanese intonation. But moving on. ]
Oh, I make my own. Commercial products tend to be a little too heavy for me.

Bring some by later. [Grell slides a small business card out of her front pocket, holding it out to the stranger between two fingers.]
Stay a little longer and I'll help you with your style - refined is beautiful, but a little fun flair could do you wonders. I promise.

Kobayakawa Takakage. I teach in the Biology department. A pleasure to make your acquaintance. [ He supposes he could spare a little, and this... Grell person definitely seems to be one focused on his appearance. ]
What did you have in mind?
[ He likes what he wears as it is, but well. Sometimes it paid off to be more open-minded. ]
no subject
The pleasure is all mine.
[Grell is still relatively new the faculty, and so she holds out one hand, palm down for him to take.]
If you like, I can give you a few extra credit hours in Human Anatomy.
IM IN TEARS
Well this is. Awkward.
He takes the other's hand, but manoeuvres mid-gesture to turn it into a brief handshake. ]
I appreciate the offer, but I already finished my university studies.
[ There has been. An attempt. ]
You're welcome
this is beautiful

A
[And as a foreign student who was working, he had a lot of paperwork to worry about.]
[He took the form with a little groan -- God, this again? Didn't he just fill out this form, like, a year ago? Lame. And on top of that...]
I'm gonna need deets on that. Which hottie?
[He did NOT need one more girl to try and beat away from Fai with a stick. She'd better have been hot for the history teacher with the abs or someone.]
A
[She pointed at the dotted lines along the bottom.]
Sign here, you can read it later.

Just like tell me his hair color. It'll take less time than arguing with me, right?
[Unless it's a blond.]
no subject
Now sign. His class ends in twenty minutes.
no subject
[It wasn't like he cared too much about the paperwork as long as his involvement in it was minimal. Feliks pulled a sparkly purple pen out of his bag and scribbled out a signature.]
Is it like, the history teacher who smokes all the time? He's pretty hot.
[But not someone to get jealous over.]
no subject
I never cared to listen to what he was saying. Perhaps? He has such a wonderful little glower, as if the entire world were raining on his secret parade. It makes me wonder just what it would take to make such a handsome face smile.
no subject
I wouldn't know personally, but like, there might totally be a group that spies on his club's practices sometimes. He apparently has a little trouble keeping his kendo-shirt-thing closed, if it's the guy I'm thinking of?
[You know, reputedly. Not that Feliks had ever gone along, or anything!]
[...Only a couple of times, at least.]
no subject
Time and place. [She whips out a memo pad from her shirt pocket and holds it out to Feliks.]
This is absolutely a place where I should look for more students to sign their dumb waivers.

And B, which is your fault for not stopping me
As if. What's not totally flawless about my color coordination?
i will never not be proud of not stopping you
[Grell waved a hand from top to bottom, pointing lazily with one finger.]
You could do with a belt to bring the thing together.
no subject
[Feliks glanced at a nearby window, literally turning it into a mirror for a few moments.]
[He leaned down, removed a lace from one shoe, and tied the lace around his waist. The moment he was done, the lace turned into a cute little belt, and the shoes into a pair of pumps; the mirror went back to being a window.]
'Kay, how about now?
no subject
When Feliks turns back, Grell is all smiles, clapping softly.]
Much better.
And that is quite the interesting little trick you have. May I ask how?
no subject
[Oh, right, his power. He's been at the school for years, which means he knows most people, so most of them don't ask these days.]
Oh, that? Um, how... Basically, like, I just... look at a thing, and imagine it's different? And then I'm like, "yeah, let's do that!" and the thing does that, at least until I go away or forget about it.
[He's a mild reality warper, is basically what he's saying. He seems pretty blase about it.]
no subject
So you can do just about anything, then?
no subject
[Well, there are limitations -- he needs something to work with, and it has to be something he can imagine, and it's harder when someone else is touching the thing he wants to change and doesn't want it changed, and he's got to be physically present with it and able to see or envision it... But why go adding caveats into the explanation? They're unlikely to come up, and anyway, he's enjoying showing off. He grins, bouncing from one foot to the other in heels that would be sort of precarious for most.]
Like, it's easier to use for defense or just doing cool stuff, but I can fight with it, too, in a pinch!
[You know. Because he can think a broom into a spear.]
