THE TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

Well, I approve of this decision!

You got it! Quick on the uptake, aren't you? Exactly, it could really come in handy. You never know what's going to happen around here!

[Nope, he's not being sarcastic at all. Not a bit.]

Uh, you know, there's things that go missing and no one knows who took them. Kids using their powers to cause trouble and get away with it, stuff like that. And that's all for security to deal with. Some people say there are ghosts, too... but I don't know what I think about that.

There's more than a few Japanese people here. There's people from all over here. It's a regular zoo.

[Maybe that wasn't the best comparison to make, but Adachi smiles as if he didn't say anything odd at all.]

Great to meet you, too!
shiroganeheir: (small smile)

Half of an app later, I'm really excited, actually.

From what I have been able to discern, pretty much anything can happen around here.

[There's a wry smile on his face, and then a scowl.]

I am uncertain about ghosts. There is very little scientific evidence to their existence.

[Another pause, and a nod.]

That will be good. It will feel less like I am so far away from home.
denialism: (lxxii.)

eeexcellent.

[personal profile] denialism 2014-11-04 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds about right!

Oh, I don't know... there might be ghosts! Or maybe they're mutants who stick around after they die because of some mutation. And the normals call them ghosts because they don't know any better.

[Adachi doesn't believe in ghosts, but other people believing in ghosts is funny to him.

He really doesn't understand why anyone would miss Japan. He doesn't feel any attachment to it. Not that he feels much more attachment to the States and this stupid school, but he doesn't want to be back in Inaba, that's for sure. Or in prison.
]

Yeah. Home. Right. I don't miss it. Maybe that's why.

[No, it's not.]
shiroganeheir: (Are you sure?)

Yessss.

[personal profile] shiroganeheir 2014-11-04 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
That is a possibility, however, I think most situations that are supposedly hauntings are merely people's imaginations going haywire along with the power of suggestion.

[Naoto will not count out the possibility, however, he is more than a little dubious on the matter.]

Ah. Well, not everyone feels a connection to their place of origin. I am certain that I will more miss my situation than the place itself, if I were to be completely frank.

[He will miss being a detective, actually doing what he is meant to do. And to be completely fair, he will miss Japan itself. He just hasn't really realized it yet.]

Could be, could be... They told stories about a ghost where I used to live, and they sounded pretty convincing! Lots of people told the same story.

[Adachi, that was entirely your fault.]

Yeah, I don't see any reason to miss where I'm from. Wherever you go, there you are!

[He doesn't miss his situation, either. Or anything. But he doesn't like it here, either. It's boring. The one time he had some excitement, he got sick afterward.]

I'm sure you can find some mysteries here, since stuff's always getting screwed up. So don't worry about it.

[That may not actually be very reassuring.]

I have seen many ghost stories that have turned out to be either the power of suggestion or an individual's own actions. However, I am not completely adverse to the possibility of the unexplained.

[Naoto nods, thoughtfully.]

My grandfather is fond of the Western proverb of to 'bloom where you are planted'. I believe that is the proverb. I have not had a 'home' as such in quite a few years. Something is always going wrong, and there is always a need for someone to find out how it is going wrong. You are right. I will likely be able to find a mystery.

Oh sure, it's probably just people being idiots most of the time! But not always.

[Adachi doesn't disagree, but people believing in ghosts is funny to him, so he encourages it.]

Some wise old guy. See, sounds like you've got it all figured out. They need detectives everywhere, because of how much people love to commit crimes. There's always going to be more people causing more trouble. It's a growth industry!
shiroganeheir: (Are you sure?)

[personal profile] shiroganeheir 2014-11-05 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
It is possible. I have seen many strange things.

[There's a nod from Naoto and a shrug.]

It is. As much as I wish people would stop committing crimes, I know there will always be a truth to find.
denialism: (v.)

[personal profile] denialism 2014-11-07 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, things are strange, and they keep getting stranger. Just wait until you've been here as long as I have. You'll have seen more strange things than you can even imagine now.

Sure, it's human nature. Or mutant nature. People cause trouble. They almost can't help it. But that's okay, because people like you like finding them out. It's pretty nice how that works out—there are people who like committing crime and people who like solving crimes.
shiroganeheir: (thinking)

[personal profile] shiroganeheir 2014-11-10 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I am certain that the things I will experience will only be more odd than what I have already seen. I am not certain if I am looking forward to it or not.

[Naoto shrugs, nodding a bit.]

True. Perhaps that is why everyone has different skills. When they are put together, order can be achieved.
