THE TEST DRIVE MEME
Hello, True Believers!
This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.
Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!
Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

Well, I approve of this decision!
[Nope, he's not being sarcastic at all. Not a bit.]
Uh, you know, there's things that go missing and no one knows who took them. Kids using their powers to cause trouble and get away with it, stuff like that. And that's all for security to deal with. Some people say there are ghosts, too... but I don't know what I think about that.
There's more than a few Japanese people here. There's people from all over here. It's a regular zoo.
[Maybe that wasn't the best comparison to make, but Adachi smiles as if he didn't say anything odd at all.]
Great to meet you, too!
Half of an app later, I'm really excited, actually.
[There's a wry smile on his face, and then a scowl.]
I am uncertain about ghosts. There is very little scientific evidence to their existence.
[Another pause, and a nod.]
That will be good. It will feel less like I am so far away from home.
eeexcellent.
Oh, I don't know... there might be ghosts! Or maybe they're mutants who stick around after they die because of some mutation. And the normals call them ghosts because they don't know any better.
[Adachi doesn't believe in ghosts, but other people believing in ghosts is funny to him.
He really doesn't understand why anyone would miss Japan. He doesn't feel any attachment to it. Not that he feels much more attachment to the States and this stupid school, but he doesn't want to be back in Inaba, that's for sure. Or in prison.]
Yeah. Home. Right. I don't miss it. Maybe that's why.
[No, it's not.]
Yessss.
[Naoto will not count out the possibility, however, he is more than a little dubious on the matter.]
Ah. Well, not everyone feels a connection to their place of origin. I am certain that I will more miss my situation than the place itself, if I were to be completely frank.
[He will miss being a detective, actually doing what he is meant to do. And to be completely fair, he will miss Japan itself. He just hasn't really realized it yet.]

[Adachi, that was entirely your fault.]
Yeah, I don't see any reason to miss where I'm from. Wherever you go, there you are!
[He doesn't miss his situation, either. Or anything. But he doesn't like it here, either. It's boring. The one time he had some excitement, he got sick afterward.]
I'm sure you can find some mysteries here, since stuff's always getting screwed up. So don't worry about it.
[That may not actually be very reassuring.]

[Naoto nods, thoughtfully.]
My grandfather is fond of the Western proverb of to 'bloom where you are planted'. I believe that is the proverb. I have not had a 'home' as such in quite a few years. Something is always going wrong, and there is always a need for someone to find out how it is going wrong. You are right. I will likely be able to find a mystery.

[Adachi doesn't disagree, but people believing in ghosts is funny to him, so he encourages it.]
Some wise old guy. See, sounds like you've got it all figured out. They need detectives everywhere, because of how much people love to commit crimes. There's always going to be more people causing more trouble. It's a growth industry!

[There's a nod from Naoto and a shrug.]
It is. As much as I wish people would stop committing crimes, I know there will always be a truth to find.

Sure, it's human nature. Or mutant nature. People cause trouble. They almost can't help it. But that's okay, because people like you like finding them out. It's pretty nice how that works out—there are people who like committing crime and people who like solving crimes.

[Naoto shrugs, nodding a bit.]
True. Perhaps that is why everyone has different skills. When they are put together, order can be achieved.
