THE TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

[ She's super-gorgeous! And silly as it is, that's the very first thing Sam thinks when he sees this. And his main reason for offering. But he's a nice guy in general too okay?? This is his chance to make an awesome first impression and he is going to go for it. ]

Ohh, you mean how to make your phone work?? They can be pretty tough! What d'you need help with? I can probably help!

[Myra brightens at the energetic, happy voice, smiling at the boy.]

How do... um... call other country?

[ And of course she starts off with a more difficult question. He's only called out of country once or twice to extended family. ]

You mean dial out? I think there's like an exit code you punch in first... 011? You put that in first, then the country number and then the regular number. Skype is probably easier...

Oh! Yes, I heard of Skype! You can talk and see people far away over internet, yes? Maybe cheaper than phone?

[She briefly heard something about calling India a few times a week would just going to eat up her minutes.]

I want to speak to mother, that is all.

Ohh, is she not here with you?? Skype might be a better choice then--you can do face-to-face chatting that way. Does she know about it?

No, she and sister is back in Mumbai.

[She looks thoughtful, tapping a long, almost claw-like golden nail against her lips.]

I do not know. Maybe person with the internet place can help?

[ It reminds Sam oddly of a lion for some strange reason--and then he wonders where exactly Mumbai is. It sounds like it would be in Africa or something, but he's about as geographically inclined as a brick. ]

Like a computer store?

[Oh dear, Sam. Someone needs to pay way more attention to geography, that's not even the same continent!]

No, place that has the internet. My town is very... um... cheap? Poor? Internet is with computer and not many have computer. So there are place with computer for borrow.

[ Kid needs a lot of help in that department, it's true. ]

Ohh--an internet cafe!

Maybe if I call mother and tell her, she go to the café and we can talk with faces! That would be very good.

[She laughs slightly at his pronunciation of her name, but it's good-natured mirth.]

[ Oh no, she did the Uncle Sam thing--that's his dream. It's so stupid and so cheesy but she said it and it feels like a milestone has been achieved in his life. ]

[Gosh, he was such an excitable guy and that just makes her happy.

It was kind of a relief to see that yes, mutants in the US were people. The ideas of gods was stupid.]

I wish! I was gonna get one for Halloween but I wound up doing the tensor-bandage mummy thing instead. What about you? Do you celebrate Halloween??

[A little thoughtful at that, Myra tries to remember what Halloween was. Something about pumpkins? Her education before becoming a living goddess was a little bit lacking.]

Ah, no. I not sure what it is. You wear costume?

Yeah! And you go trick-or-treating and you get candy and stuff. It just passed a little while ago.
