So, I was thinking and have a question for you.

Would you mind if Naoto has read a file on Adachi's case? He won't remember from the name or by his face, but in thinking through things, I realized that likely he would have heard of the case and looked into it out of curiosity.

Sure, I have no problem with that whatsoever. It was prominent enough that it's perfectly plausible for him to have read about it.

If you want to plot something involving him connecting Adachi with the case sometime in the future, I'd be fine with that too.
