Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

[Transferring to yet another new school was really not a new thing for Hanako. That didn't make it any more comforting, though. She was tired of constantly having to find new schools, tired of people staring or picking on her for her appearance. Thankfully, her mutation had gone unnoticed for the most part.

The one thing all her schools had in common that she was grateful for was a library. Libraries were generally very quiet, and there was plenty to read, of course. What better way to distract yourself from what's going on around you than to delve into a book? It's one of Hanako's ways of coping with stress.

Hanako settled herself in a back corner with a thick fantasy book. It's likely that she's skipping one of her classes, but she needs time to herself for now. Anyone walking by might notice her glancing around at the slightest noise, like a frightened animal. Or anyone who actually makes eye contact with her might blink...and she seems to be gone. However, upon closer inspection, there seems to be the outline of someone there, or they might spot movement...and is that an eye?]

[Gaige is skipping classes too, she's been busy working on a project of hers in the dorms and it's gonna get finished tonight, unlike the american history report that's due tomorrow. she has a comically huge stack of books in her arms when she passes the back corner and shifts them around onto her robot arm so she can see the bookshelf in front of her.

the redhead gets on her tiptoes, reaching for a book just out of her reach and then the books fall out of her grasp splaying everywhere and knocking her over. it's no surprise--they're all sorts of heavy manuals about animal behaviour, anatomy, robotics, and circuitry.

she groans, leaning her head back]

Aww nuts!

[Well, it had been relatively quiet. Hanako practically froze in place when the other girl passed her spot, her eyes following the girl's movement. While she expected to see other people, what she wasn't expecting was for the girl to drop a stack of books all over the place, a couple of them landing near herself, causing her to gasp.

So much for not drawing any attention to herself. She sort of cringed back against her chair for a moment, fighting the urge to just blend in with her surroundings. But that was a lot of books, and they were no doubt heavy. She may be horribly shy, but she isn't heartless.]

...are y-you okay?

Yeah, I'm cool.

[she sounds deflated though. then she notices some of the books close to Hanako.]

What about you? I didn't get you did I?

[Hanako uses her own book to hide her face, just peeking over the top of it.]

I...I'm okay.

Oh. Good.

[have a big grin]

It would've been hard to carry you to the nurse with all these suckas! I'm Gaige by the way.

[Hanako's not very fond of that idea at all. She'd rather not be touched if at all possible. She'd likely have made an attempt to flee into the shelves and hide rather than be brought to the nurse's office.]

I g-guess...

[she guesses she's Gaige? Well okay. Gives her a puzzled look for a moment and then starts to collect up her books. Once she has them in a stack, she looks up again.]

You got a name?

[She was just responding to the mention of it being hard to carry her. It takes a moment, but the shy girl does respond.]

...Hanako.

Hanako. Nice to meetcha!

[another smile.]

[Hanako winces slightly. She's...really not very social, and it shows just as clearly as her horrid scars. She keeps glancing over her book, watching the other girl nervously.]

[Gaige is a little too self-involved to have really noticed the scars, so she begins to stand up, bending to grab the stack of books--but that gives her a chance to see Hanako from another angle.]

Woah... That's gotta hurt.

[timidscars]

[That makes her cringe and try even harder to hide behind her book. The scars didn't hurt, but the memories did.]

D-don't...

Huh?

[it clicks. damn gaige why so oblivious.]

Crap, I'm sooo sorry! I don't know why I did that--I totally suck! Are you, uh, okay or maybe I should just go...

[timidscars]

[Hanako really should be used to people gawking at her by now, but she really wasn't.]

I...I'll go.

Nononono! I'm gone. Sorry.

[and with that, she takes her books and leaves. if she ever sees Hanako again she's gonna give her a little robotic animal to try and cheer her up ;n; ]
