THE TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!


Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag, as well as the weekly updates to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

Alluring alliteration? That sounds literate, which he can't say for most people he seems to meet. Was this guy - Gregory Deegan - capable of learning but lacking in common sense? It's a shame those two seemed to always occur separately, exclusive to each.

While Nezumi does smile, it's not exactly friendly. He studies his hand, but doesn't extend his own.

"I can't say for sure what that hand can do, so I'll pass, if it's the same to you." This was a place for mutants, after all. "I'm Nezumi. I'd ask for applause, but you'd only fall again."

Gregory grinned. Okay, he liked this guy. "Fair enough on both counts. So you neither want a hand nor a hand." He grinned. "Alright then, lets get to know each other. And since you mentioned mutant powers, you can go first," he said with another grin.

He rolled his hand, as if introducing someone important.

"I wouldn't dream of going before the one and only Gregory Deegan. After you. It doesn't seem like extraordinary intelligence managed to get you in, so what is your mutant ability?"

He grinned and leaned against his walking stick. Yes, he liked this guy a great deal. "Nah, that would have been my mother, or my brother Dominic, they got all the brains. I got my dad's skill with an axe, and white fire. Your turn, oh illustrious Nezumi."

"I wouldn't want to lose the title of Illustrious, so I'll keep that to myself." His ability worked through soundwaves, after all, which made it easy to stop, if you could get to him fast enough to cover his mouth. While he'd learned some skill in handling himself, it was nothing next to mutant strength or speed. "After all 'It is only through mystery and madness that the soul is revealed'."

Would he recognize the quote by Thomas Moore?

His lips twitched up again. "I think I can guess what you are," he said seeming quite amused indeed. He sounded like his father, somewhat. For some people, maybe that would be a bad thing, but Gregory and his father were often more like friends. It came from them both having juvenile personalities and a propensity for couch forts. And axes.

Nezumi can't say he had used a lot of axes, but he was pretty skilled with a knife in his hand.

One eyebrow raised, in amusement at least, at his words. Did he now? If he had figured it out, it would be alarming but he's willing to bet the guess is wrong.

"What would that be?"

Bright open smile. "My new best friend," he said happily. "Well, after Rachel, because she's, well, Rachel. She'd break my head open, with her face, if she ever wasn't my best friend." He grinned in a way that showed he wasn't really afraid of Rachel.

"I don't remember signing up for that," he informed lazily. "So, we'll let Rachel keep the title. I like my head, so I don't want to worry about it being broken open."

He's not really worried about Rachel, either, though he does idly wonder if she uses an axe, too. "Especially if she uses fire, too."

"Nah, just her face," he said grinning. "And it's my head she'd break open, not yours. Actually, she'd probably find you cute. But if she offers you a makeover... run away as politely as you can," he said, nodding sagely.
