THE TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag, as well as the weekly updates to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

[Historia -- Krista, Krista now -- is on her way inside from a walk. She's got a long, sort of bohemian-looking skirt, and her small frame is all but buried in layers of coats and a rather voluminous scarf.]

[She pauses on her way, faintly curious as to what the other girl is looking so on-edge about.]

[That, apparently, is a mistake.]

[She makes a small, sort of baffled sound of surprise as the girl trips into her, nearly toppling her into the snow.]

Oh!

I-I'm so sorry, are you alright?

[What is dressing for the cold? Elphelt, with her thigh-high skirt split and scant chest covering probably needs a scarf of her own. It's a sad state of things when fashion trumps functionality and smart choices.

Elphelt, for her part, is now gently trying to get up from her snowy fall.]

Oh gosh, You saw that. Someone saw me fall. Can you pretend like that didn't happen?

[Isn't she freezing? Maybe it's some kind of mutation... That doesn't make it any easier to not be... awed, and slightly intimidated by the generous, scantily covered bosom at more-or-less face height. Definitely impressive, but a little imposing for someone as all-around tiny as Krista...]

[She shakes her head, offering the other girl a shy, nervous smile.]

It's all right! Don't worry, I'm not going to tell anyone...

[No, she's actually completely freezing! It kind of shows in her face as she starts brushing the snow off her gown, shock widening her eyes.]

Oh, no. Oh, no no no... It's all dirty now.

[Her gaze sloooooowly goes back to Krista.]

Thank you! It's these shoes. They don't do very well in the snow.

[Clunky platforms with high heels. Obviously she's full of amazing life choices.]

I should probably wear something else, but...

[Krista smiles up at her, then blinks as if remembering something and looks away, beginning to dig in her pockets for something.]

Here, I think I have...

[She produces a handkerchief, offering to to the other girl.]

Here. Will this help?

...They're very flattering on you, though! Um, the shoes.

[Elphelt takes the handkerchief without hesitation, smiling gratefully.]

Wow! You're really nice! I was worried the shoes would be too much here, but they're what I've always liked, so it doesn't hurt to just go for things you want, right?

[Scrubbing scrubbing at a patch that looks a bit gray on her ivory satin bodice.]

I'm Elphelt! I forgot to ask you who you were, mostly because I didn't want to be rude to someone I should definitely know. That wouldn't be very nice.

[Goodness, she talks a lot! Not that Krista minds too much -- on the contrary, it saves her a little bit from having to know what to say.]

[Or from accidentally saying the things she knows she doesn't want to. Talking about how she's never really picked out her own clothes before doesn't seem like a way to make friends.]

No, we haven't met before... I'm Krista. I just transferred here.

Oh, good. [Relief!] I'm new, too. I'm not used to the weather yet.

[Krista would look very nice in gingham. Please don't let Elphelt know or she will help. The girl's not a charity case, but doesn't everyone deserve a little bit of happiness? To be able to embrace everything? Yes, indeed!]

Was it really warm where you're from?

[That sounds nice. Honestly, she's just from a different small town in the Northeast, so the snow isn't very new.]

I'd say... moderate! Not too hot, not too cold. Of course, that depends on the time of year.

[If she remembered where she was originally from, she would have something useful to contribute to this. Instead, it's a half-lie, half-truth. At least where she lived right before this was nice!]

[Krista smiles, trying to imagine what that's like. On the other hand, she's never minded the cold too much -- the snow is beautiful, and less people go outside in the winter, so it's a little easier to take a walk without running into people from school.]

That sounds lovely. It's so nice to meet you, Elphelt!

[The cold is a little annoying in this outfit, but Elphelt deals with it with grace. Sort of. I mean, she's utterly shivering and she should probably go inside, but she's waiting for someone and therefore it's much more important to be prompt and ready.]

It's nice to meet you, too. I'm glad you came by. I was actually trying to find one of my friends. He's really tall, big muscles, looks handsome in a tuxedo...

[Has she seen anyone like that? Historia did meet a couple of people while she was out feeding the birds, but no one that fits the description.]

I don't think I've seen him. But if you tell me his name, maybe I might run into him?

[She does want to help, after all. Or more to the point, she wants to be helpful.]

I don't actually know his name... Technically I saw him in the hallway, and I don't know where he was going, but he smiled at me and I thought that would be a good start.

[Elphelt just wants to make friends...]

It doesn't sound like a bad start.

For what, though?

[Being friends, she guesses?? That kind of makes sense...]

I don't want to say it...

[She gives a gentle sigh.]

I don't really have a lot of friends.

[Well, that's certainly something she can understand. Terribly intimately, really.]

[But she isn't about to admit to that. Historia might not be lovable, but Krista... She wants Krista to be the sort of person who'd have lots of friends wherever she goes.]

Well, you did move here recently, didn't you?

[She smiles, soft and warm.]

Are you cold out here? We could go inside...

I did! I didn't have a lot of friends there, either.

[She waves her hands a bit, as if saying she shouldn't be misunderstood. It's so melodramatic on the surface.]

I'm not complaining! It means I don't miss anybody, not really. so that's actually nice. A fresh start can be good, I think. But... I don't think he's going to come by and it's probably not a good idea to bother random people, so let's go inside after all.

[She nods slightly, instinctively avoiding any mention .]

You could catch cold out here pretty easily... Anyway, I'm sure it's past lunchtime. We could go and get something to eat, maybe?
