THE TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag, as well as the weekly updates to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

Study. Which is why I'm here, why they pay for me being here, and what I have to do to not end up on the other end of a soup kitchen eventually.

[She... isn't really terribly interested in helping others before herself (most certainly not. It would be dumb). Especially not if they're strangers and she thus won't get anything out of it.]
martyrerkomplex: (You don't know how much I'd give)

[She likes books for the stories, but studying has always simply been a way to avoid things that are more painful. Historia doesn't really see much point in it, and it certainly won't help her get people to like her -- not unless she's good enough to help them with their own studies.]

[Part of her wants to relent, to just be quiet and not start trouble. But... that isn't the person she's trying to be, is it?]

If you're worried about that, I don't see how it would hurt to give other people a hand up. Anyway, won't volunteer experience look good if you want to go to college, or on a resume?

Won't good grades look better?

[The question is rethoric, but Krista has made her think about this. It could be... or not. She'll have to think on it.]
martyrerkomplex: (Come to my window)

[personal profile] martyrerkomplex 2015-01-15 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[She shakes her head a little, though her expression is mild.]

Grades are important, but they look hard at volunteer hours and extracurriculars, too, don't they?
siesinddasessen: (over my shoulder)

[A shrug.]

They're idiots; so I wouldn't even be surprised.

[What a pain in the ass, her voice conveys.]
martyrerkomplex: (I would dial the numbers)

[personal profile] martyrerkomplex 2015-01-15 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[Victory? Sort of?]

Is what you know that much more important than what you use it for, to you?

[She doesn't even sound judgmental about it. She's so nice, isn't she?]
siesinddasessen: (over my shoulder)

[personal profile] siesinddasessen 2015-01-15 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I will hardly use my academical career to serve food to homeless.

[She couldn't care less about the actual content of her studies - there are some areas that are of interest, but they aren't exactly why she's studying.]
martyrerkomplex: (And hold the hand of death)

[personal profile] martyrerkomplex 2015-01-15 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[What is it that's making her so upset about this conversation? It isn't really the other girl's apathy towards the poor. She's not really someone who can cast stones about that, if she's honest.]

[No, it's that her apathy is so unpersonable, so offputting, and she so clearly doesn't care. She doesn't care if Krista thinks poorly of her at all.]

[It's a little sickening to realize she's sort of jealous of the honesty of it. Not to mention the unimaginable confidence it must take to just... not care if anyone likes her.]

[Historia isn't that strong. She's not nearly that honest.]

Maybe not. But I don't need my studies to be able to help them now.

Then [leaning in a bit - if she was there in person, it would be the difference between more distance than is polite in a conversation and less distance than is comfortable in a conversation] just drop out and do that full time, if it is so important to you. Maybe someone will think you so admirable that they'll even provide you with food and shelter for your trouble.
martyrerkomplex: (Wait by the light of the moon)

[personal profile] martyrerkomplex 2015-01-15 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[Something about that strikes through the core of her. Admirable. Is she that easy to see through, or is it just a coincidence, a shot in the dark?]

I don't see why I can't do both.
siesinddasessen: (extreme winking)

[personal profile] siesinddasessen 2015-01-15 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
So you're just going to split your dedication in even parts and apply half of it to each studying and volunteering?

[Leaning back a bit, her face resting on one of her hands, the other making a vague gesture that could be a lot but definitely isn't encouraging of what she just proposed.]

[personal profile] martyrerkomplex 2015-01-15 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, if I stay in school, I'll learn more things I can do to help. But I can still help when for now when I'm not too busy at school! On the weekends, or in summer...

And then after you were in school you can go to college, find a rich guy, marry him and have 1.9 children so he'll keep you and use your time to do volunteer work instead of working.
martyrerkomplex: (I don't care what they say)

[personal profile] martyrerkomplex 2015-01-18 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
[She's going to make that face again.]

I didn't say anything like that!

[She doesn't have the first idea what kind of life she wants, other than "one where people like her". Somehow, though, something about that rings really, deeply wrong.]
