THE TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag, as well as the weekly updates to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

-The figure within the bushes flinched, causing them to rustle a bit, but after that was silence. As if they hoped Souji hadn't actually noticed.-

[If he hadn't before, he certainly noticed that.

He approaches the bush, taking slow, deliberate steps. If there's a rabid raccoon or something in there, after all, alarming it would be a Bad Idea. He kneels down and reaches forward, brushing branches aside, but staying alert and on the balls of his feet, in case he needs to move in a hurry.]

You can come out, I'm not gonna hurt you. Promise.

[There's slight hesitation before the last word comes out. Something seems amiss when his tongue brushes against the back of his teeth...]

-What slowly exited the bush was... probably not what he was expecting. Not a person, but as quickly became apparent, a wolf.

A wolf. On campus.-

[Indeed, that is definitely a wolf. A wolf with blue fur and what may be a red wig, from the look of it. He's almost too puzzled by those details to be scared off. He leans in a bit closer, very slowly, very carefully, almost like... like he wants to pet it, actually.

This thing with his teeth is really starting to bug him, though. His canines feel... longer, somehow. Sharper.

...And then it clicks. One can see the spark of realization in his eyes when it hits him, and he smiles and offers a polite wave.]

Hi there. Student or faculty?

-There was a pause, a look of surprise in the eyes of the wolf. She tilted her head, uncertain as to how he figured it out. There was nothing about her that suggested she was anything besides a normal wolf. And yet...

After a moment she shifted back to her humanoid form. Well... mostly. She still had ears. Tail. And a healthy amount of fur. The jewel that had been on the 'collar' shifted to a brooch for her hood. It was weird how her clothes shifted with her, but the brooch remained the same. Kagerou never really thought to question it. It was just how werewolves worked, as far as she knew.-

How did you know? -She understood his Japanese, but didn't respond back with it. She'd been speaking English for so many months now without a break, it was hard to go back.-

[His smile widens to reveal his now more canine canines, which he points to for emphasis. Also, did he have those sideburns a second ago?]

I believe these are yours, actually.

... Okay, now I'm really confused. You kinda smelled like one before, but you definitely smell like a wolf now, but you're not one, and now you're saying those are mine when they can't be because they're in your mouth and...

... I'm not dreaming, am I? Did I pass out in the sun awhile ago?

[He closes his eyes and scrunches his nose, and a second later, he's back to normal, smell and all.]

I mean your mutation. I can copy them... er, somehow. I'm still getting the hang of it, honestly, I have no idea how it works yet.

[Obviously not, because the muttonchops are back in full force, and his ears are starting to come to points.]

...See what I mean?

Whoa... That must be really inconvenient when you get close to types like me, huh?

It could be worse. There was the time I burped fire.

[Especially when your first instinct is to cover your mouth. That was a fun one to explain at the ER.]

-She couldn't help a small giggle.- ... The fur sort of suits you. But it's hard to deal with sometimes, so I hope you don't mind too much.

Well, I always did wonder if I could pull off a beard.

[He strokes his chin. Still a bit stubbly in that area, but it's getting there.]

...Mind if I ask how you turn it off, though? This is really starting to itch.

Turn it... off? -She tilted her head in confusion.-
