If she wasn't in isolation then, her parents were probably doubly careful to keep Flandre under the radar since her mutation was both very dangerous (destruction) and not very well controlled then. She kind of got a shitton of mutant power dumped on her head at once, but her family has always had feral mutations in it (claws, being able to see in the dark, red eyes, her sister has batlike wings, one of her cousins is a werewolf, etc). The Scarlets have been around for a long time, too; maybe they interacted with the de Rais in the past?

I would certainly be up for having some history between the Scarlets and the de Rais. That sounds like a great idea, actually. Gilberte loves history and lineages, due to her own ancestry, so she would be all over that.

Since both families seem to have overt mutants here and there, they might have helped each other out in the past if someone needed a place to hide; Gilberte and Flandre could maybe share a common ancestor somewhere (like, way distant ancestor) too.
Or their vaguely similar appearance (freakishly tall and lanky with claws) is coincidental but Gilberte is free to interpret otherwise, haha.
Initially Flandre wouldn't quite know what to make of her; both wanting to talk to her because omg someone else with a Breton accent (since her sister's returned home the latter is a big deal to her) and being vaguely distressed because this is the person her parents told her not to be but she makes polite conversation what do??

Gilberte is all about imagining connections with people that don't exist, so she might come to a conclusion like that, or think that they are somehow spiritually linked, regardless of their actual connection. She gets a lot of odd ideas.
Gilberte is all about Bretagne, too, so she will be so very pleased, and will probably not notice any reluctance on Flandre's part, or will just ignore it if she does.
I can have Gilberte hit up Flandre's most recent post, if you likeāor, Gilberte has a top level up at the newsreel mingle. Let me know if you have a preference. I imagine there's a good chance they would have already met, since Gilberte has been around for a few months, but if you'd like them to meet for the first time, that works for me, too.

(HER SISTER COULD MANIPULATE THAT IN CANON TOO this is hilarious to me)Hm. She's in a...not great mood initially on that log, but right after she gets out from the infirmary she'll be temporarily better and more approachable because yay painkillers! If still in need of washing her hands.
I think they would have met a few times before, yeah (Flan would think Gilberte is a bit weird). She could pester Flan about losing a fang, maybe?
I can't immediately think of a tag for the mingle one, so that would work!
