AROUND THE WORLD
Reports are spreading of an increasing number of scuffles between members of the Friends of Humanity and the Mutant Liberation Front. President Kelly and community leaders nationwide have made public calls for an end to the violence, entreating the public to put their faith in the rule of law.

Memorial events for Donavan Zane, the young man apparently killed by the MLF, have been held across the country and the world. In America, many more moderate mutant rights organizations and activists have distanced themselves from them, roundly condemning the killing and calling for a thorough investigation -- while at the same time imploring humans to resist the urge to pin the blame for his death on all mutants.

In protest of the proposed Mutant Registration Act (currently being debated in congress), young mutants worldwide have taken up the tongue-in-cheek social media hashtag #MutantPrivilege to lambast the idea that mutants are unfairly advantaged in society, largely through sarcastic retellings of their experiences with discrimination. While some mainstream media attention has been garnered and a few laughs have been had, it's debatable what (if anything) this has achieved.

Back from their winter break, the National Film Board of Canada has written an open letter asking Logan to start the new year with a new, more open outlook. Hope does spring eternal, doesn't it?
