THE TEST DRIVE MEME
This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.
Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!
We also ask that you please pardon our dust. We're working very hard to get this game up and running and hope to be open by September 1st!

Palutena | Kid Icarus: Uprising | 12th Grade
POP!
[It's not quite an explosion but it's loud enough to cause some noise. And it came from the science lab. A little smoke bundled it's way out of the room along with Palutena, who was coughing with her hand over her mouth.
Her face itself was singed a bit thanks to the small reaction she caused with the chemicals she happened to be mixing.]
This is the third time in a row! If I can't finish this, I'm really going to regret it!

I suggest trying a different method. There is a saying about trying the same thing over and over again, expecting different results, is insanity. There is enough of that around already.
[Insanity, that was.]

Worry not, fellow citizen! I'm definitely going about it the right way.
[Despite her situation, it doesn't stop her from glowing when talking about things she enjoys doing.]
The next time, I just need to add a little less liquid nitrogen.

I'm not that careless. The last thing I'd ever want is someone else to get hurt so it won't happen.

hello!
He rises from his seat almost immediately, his fingers laced around a slim conductor's baton. Catching sight of the flustered student, he quickly enters the lab she had been working in and turns on the fans. Luckily, there is no fire - but he could indeed put that out, no problem.
After he ascertains that nothing has been damaged, he returns his attention to the young lady. His voice is even and his expression neutral, but it is evident that he expects a straight answer. ]
Now, young lady, please explain the cause of that disturbance.
o/
[She taps her cheek a couple times in thought.]
Unfortunately, I keep getting my mixtures wrong, which is a problem I'm trying my best to correct. So far, no good.
casually bullshits science
I see. [ His expression has not changed. ] May I have your name?
[ He walks back into the lab, the student following. From the smell and syllabus, it is probably the esterification experiment. It should be quite safe...
But there seems to be a problem with the reaction mixture. Somehow, there is too much water present in the flask... ]
Where did you obtain your reagents from?
it's x-men it happens 1/2
[She doesn't hesitate to follow along.]
From the science teacher here. He said...

Take what you need as long as you don't get annoying about it.
IM LAUGHING
It seems that you have used concentrated sulfuric acid instead of the dilute hydrochloric acid recommended in the experiment. [ He taps the baton across his other palm. ] I am not sure how this has happened, given that the former is usually out of bounds for students. But they are both transparent solutions, after all.
I will replace the contaminated reagent for you, and you may continue your experiment under supervision.
[ He flicks his wrist very slightly and the unused liquid in her reagent bottle rises out, forming a globe floating by his side. ] I expect you to clean the reaction flask thoroughly to ensure no further contamination.
[ With that, he turns and makes for the lab technician's room, floating water orb in tow. ]
no subject
That and she expected to do a perfect job cleaning.
But she put on a pair of cokebottle glasses, fake of course, and adjusted them once.]
Yes, sir. No task is too difficult or large for me.

He returns to the lab with another floating orb of water, depositing it into the bottle on Palutena's bench. ]
This is the acid specified in the assignment. You may proceed.
no subject
Alright. I've got this under control.
[Which she did. Palutena certainly wasn't recklessly mixing liquids, at least.]

gonna pull some underclassman silliness here--
Miss Palutena! I brought you those snacks you asked for, y'know, so you'd have the energy to keep studying? How's that...
That...
[...Huh. That burning smell...]
...I'm... guessing it's not going so great.
...Cookie?
[L-lamely holding out the snack in Palutena's direction, smiling sheepishly.]
no subject
I'm....getting there. But thanks, Pit. I really needed that.
[Cookie, get.]
no subject
Happy to help, Miss Palutena! I'm not so great at the actual science stuff, but if there's anything else you need, I'm on it like butter on toast!!
[...Speaking of toast, sniff sniff. It'd sound good about now if the air didn't already smell like tiny explosions.]
What exactly blew up in there, anyway?
no subject
It's mostly just a science experiment. One where I have to create a new kind of smell.
Hm...
[She holds the cookie away from her face.]
...say, Pit. You didn't happen to put any ex-lax in here, did you?
no subject
[Tilting his head this way and that. And then--]
Huh?! No, of course not! I, uh... just got this stuff from the canteen, so if anyone's putting things anywhere, it's definitely not me! ...And even if I did do something like that, I definitely, definitely wouldn't do it to you! So...
[He nods, too-small wings fluttering for emphasis.]
no subject
[She can't help but put a hand to her mouth and laugh.]
I'm just joking so there's no need to be so serious.
no subject
[Chuckling some, even if it still sounds a little nervous.] What were you trying to go for this time around? Kinda smells like Eau de Burnt Waffle in there.
