THE TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!


Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

[She makes a 'ew' face, something that might be a little hard to see in her glittering face.]

Um... what are your powers? I'm sure they aren't that bad.

[ Just a little--Sam tries to infer from her tone, his own expression quite interested...until that question comes, and he looks off to the side with an evasive look of his own. ]

Well it's not...bad, I guess. I mean, I guess it could be useful? But I don't think it'd make me very popular here. With everyone kinda liking their powers and stuff y'know? Like they're all so cool and stuff and they get to practice and do all sorts of neat stuff!

I sort of wreck that...

[She shrugs, but then smiles at Sam again.]

Maybe if you become a hero, you can stop bad mutants with it.

A hero, me?? I can barely pass P.E.! I'd get wasted out there against real mutants...

We don't think so! Everyone can be a hero, like the ones who saved us.

[sugoooi]

...Hmm? What do you mean "us"? Is there more than one of you??

[The crystals rain apart and reform again.]

[ ALRIGHT, that he wasn't expecting. Sam nearly jumps out of his skin. ]

Are you okay?! Are you supposed to do that???? Should I call the teacher??

[There's a little giggle at that.]

We're okay! We don't have one body any more, so we can move how we want.

O-oh...is that uh, okay? Like um...maybe you shouldn't get too close to me. [ He doesn't want to know what sort of effect he'd have on her if he touched her while she wasn't human-shaped. That might be...err, messy. ]

[Her smile fades at that and she shies away.]

[ Oh god no, now he's gone and given her the wrong impression. Sam hastily tries to bring up his hands in apology and shakes his head. ]

No, th-that's not what I meant! I'm not worried about me--I'm not scared! Of you... You're fine! It's me I'm worried about being the problem, I promise!

[She hugs herself, a bit self-conscious.]

It's not that--I mean, thanks...! I try to be. But my power's kinda...well. It stops other powers from working. When I touch people--so if I bumped you while you were all spread out like that...

I'd use photos but that's impossible to crystallize =(

[She looks thoughtful for a brief moment and then concentrates, withdrawing all the loose pieces to pull herself together as much as possible. She even gains some ghostlike hair from the tiniest, almost dust-like diamonds.]

That is a good power. Maybe not for us...

[She slowly falls apart into a more whirling, spread form, unable to keep her full self for long.]

...but for others. Maybe you can help them. Stop their power when they can't control it. Like a hero.

...You think so? I thought it might just make everyone mad--because it gets rid of all the cool stuff they can do. Do people really go out of control here??

Some have really strange powers that might be hard to control. Maybe it would give them a headache and they need to take a break, and you can do that for them!

I wonder... I mean, I'd like to help if I can! It's just that I feel like I'd be a bother in most cases. [ But if there is a chance to do something like that of course he'd be willing. If there was a way a power like his could actually be used for something, he's for it. ]

Maybe if it's an accident or if you do it for fun, people might be bothered and maybe a little annoyed... but not if they need help. You can help.

[She giggles a little again.]

[ Oh no...that's so sad. And adorable. Sam feels a swell of botherly pride here and his pity for her overflows :c ]

[Aw, Sam. You made the broken girl happy!]

We like you, you are nice. [She flows backwards a bit, swirling around like a little ballerina-slash-glitter-tornado.]

Will you be our friend? What is your name?

[ It's like watching the insides of a snow globe all move at once; it's pretty, and just a little mesmerizing. ]

I'm Sam--what about you? We can definitely be friends!

[Exactly! She'd be very happy if she knew that's what he thought. She liked snow globes.]

We don't remember our name, but we call ourselves Glitter. We like Sam. Our friend.

Glitter huh? That's a cute name. [ Though he feels back she can't recall what her own was. Part of her mutation, he wonders? ]

[She swirls around again, giggling a little. Unfortunately it wasn't part of her mutation to be so odd and forgetful, but the fact that her mind was a little broken from breaking apart into tiny diamonds long before her mutation was actually finished.]
