THE TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

Oh, that.

[He is so single-minded, he didn't understand Carver was changing the subject. He frowns, because he still finds the whole subject deeply troubling, especially since he still doesn't know what happened. He has the distinct sense that it was something really, really bad.]

If there was a mutant, and their power was just to blow things up, like a nuclear bomb, they shouldn't ever use it, right? Because people would get hurt no matter what. So how are they supposed to practice?

[He would be willing to concede that there might be some mutants that the government should be aware of! But then they would have to discuss where the line would be drawn, and the last time he conceded anything the conversation escalated kind of quickly, so he's not doing that again.]

I'm not an expert on these things, but from what I understand, you can practice not using something. If that mutant accidentally causes explosions when they're under stress, there are more options than doing nothing about that and keeping them a hundred miles away from anyone else, just in case. I think there are even classes on that kind of thing here.

[personal profile] garganteren 2014-11-07 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
[But are there classes that can actually keep Eren from getting angry???]

I don't want to take mutant classes and get brainwashed. Maybe you're right, but I can do it on my own.

[personal profile] carvedout 2014-11-07 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Brainwash— Ah.

[Incredulously, he starts to blurt something out again, but this time he stops himself halfway. Trying to compose himself, he clears his throat.]

If you don't want to take a class, maybe you could talk to a teacher about private tutoring. If what you can do is dangerous, shouldn't you be supervised?

No. I'm a kidnap victim, and I'm here against my will. I can't trust these people, especially not the teachers. I'm not going to be indoctrinated in the mutant agenda.

I should get an attorney! I'm a U.S. Citizen, I have rights!

[He doesn't know how to do that, though. And he's a minor. It's not fair!]

[personal profile] carvedout 2014-11-07 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I...

[He gives up. He's calling that, "Maybe you're right," a victory and tapping out.]

Well, have fun with that.

[personal profile] garganteren 2014-11-07 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
["Maybe you're right" is actually a triumph, coming from Eren. If he were to stop and think about it, he would quite possibly angrily take it back, but it slipped out.]

I mean, it's got to be against the law to hold me against my will, right? I should sue!

[Apparently, Carver has impressed him enough that he is going to ask him legal questions.]
carvedout: (pic#8428155)

[personal profile] carvedout 2014-11-07 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I— Maybe? [What, why is Eren asking him that kind of question, should he be concerned??] You're a minor, so it depends on whether or not a court thinks you're in a "harmful environment"... I think?

[He doesn't know how these things work! But considering some of the things Eren has been saying, he's willing to bet that wherever he was beforehand, it wasn't good for him.]
garganteren: (06)

[personal profile] garganteren 2014-11-07 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[Because you're one of the few people who didn't call him a Nazi or something! Except for that one weird kid...]

Everyone hates me here, so it's pretty harmful! Just because I'm a mutant, I don't want to have to stay here where I'm going to be indoctrinated. I just want to be cured.
carvedout: (pic#8428155)

[personal profile] carvedout 2014-11-07 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh no. When Carver replies, he speaks slowly, being careful in how he chooses his words.]

I don't think everyone hates you... But if you've been going around saying the same things you told me, you probably made some people upset. Um, they just have strongly held opinions, like you do.

[He's trying to present the information in a way that Eren won't just immediately shut out, but that's hard!]
garganteren: (26)

[personal profile] garganteren 2014-11-08 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, they do hate me. They called me a Nazi and said that I hate gay people and Jewish people.

[This deeply offended Eren, who loves all humanity.]

But I just hate mutants!

[Though at this point, he actually thinks Carver is kind of okay, which is probably one reason he shouldn't be shouting that he hates mutants.]
carvedout: (pic#8428067)

[personal profile] carvedout 2014-11-08 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Carver is kind of worried about this kid, and seeing as he's usually the one shooting off and putting his foot in his mouth everywhere, that's a strange and novel feeling! Between that and his solidarity in feeling out of place here, he feels almost obligated to stick this out.]

That doesn't really contradict what I said, you know. You're not going to make a lot of friends hating what other people are.
garganteren: (28)

[personal profile] garganteren 2014-11-08 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, no... They have strong opinions, I know that. But they're wrong.

[Unlike Eren, who is right, but he does sound a bit calmer as he says this.]

I don't want to make any friends here. So I don't care. I'll say whatever I want.
carvedout: (pic#8428072)

[personal profile] carvedout 2014-11-08 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
But, you just said... [He cuts off and sighs, exasperated.] Look. What I'm saying is, I don't think everyone hates you, and if they do, it's because of how you've acted. That's not the same thing as whatever it is you're saying.

Mutants always hate the Friends of Humanity, because we say what we're thinking. We're not going to pretend because we're afraid of them. Because we're not.

[Friends of Humanity pride!!!]

What I said is, I don't care if people hate me. But I don't think I should be here, either.

—"The Friends of Humanity"?

[You can practically hear the record scratch.]

Are those the friends that were "helping" you?
garganteren: (04)

[personal profile] garganteren 2014-11-09 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah! They're my family. They raised me.

[And they really love him. They're cool, so there.]
carvedout: (pic#8428093)

[personal profile] carvedout 2014-11-09 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
[They're not cool at all, Eren! Carver has never had any run-ins with them personally, but he knows enough from what his father had told him.]

What were they doing? To "help" you.

[He sounds abruptly demanding.]
garganteren: (37)

[personal profile] garganteren 2014-11-09 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, he's still one of them, no matter what!]

What?

[Eren notes the change in tone and feels defensive.]

They were just trying to make sure I didn't hurt anyone again!
carvedout: (pic#8428095)

[personal profile] carvedout 2014-11-09 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
[On some level, he realizes his reaction is less than helpful, but he suddenly feels incensed.]

And I suppose they routinely help mutants? Nice and generous, I'm sure.

[It's fine, he expects people to be angry with him. He's not changing his opinion!]

I didn't say that. But they were trying to help me.
