January Plot - Alternative Event

A Helping Hand..

Obviously not every character could, or even still will, participate in the Hellfire Club event. However, we have an alternative event available for everyone else, plus all of our new characters!

As has hopefully been made obvious over the last few news posts and updates, WINTER IS HERE and it sucks. Probably the coldest on record for the Northeastern region of the US in many many years. The weather has left many people in District X without proper power or heating, and reasonably priced food is getting harder to come by as well as the weather forces prices to rise to account for the cost of getting food into Manhattan. This has created a big strain on volunteer forces there, in addition to the socio-political climate being terrible as well. Breakouts of violence, both between the FoH and residents and even residents fighting among themselves, are common.

So what are the X-Men going to do about it? They're going to help. As much as they can anyways. While Nightcrawler leads the missions into the Hellfire Club, Storm will gather a group of students and faculty to help in District X.

This can include anything from working the soup lines, to giving out donations of clothing, to helping repair non-electric furnaces, and using their powers in creative ways to help with any of these tasks. Unfortunately, they'll need muscle and security as well, given the Friends of Humanity are bound to come out the woodwork once word of the X-Men helping out in District X comes out...

If someone is only in one phase of the mission, can she help out when it isn't her turn to act there?

All phases will happen in a single night, so no, it's not possible.

Edit to clarify: A single in game night. Obviously we don't expect to run the whole campaign in one night, ha ha

I'm volunteering Slayer here. He's always up for aiding the less fortunate and protecting them. And I can see him getting into a fight or two if need be.

I'll volunteer Kyouko to do what she really only knows best, and that's perform music for the crowds waiting for hot food and warm clothes. She doesn't have a lot of other talents. But charity is a massive part of her faith, and you can bet she'll be the first in line to do what's asked of her, even if it's not singing a song or strumming a guitar.


Bridget will also volunteer. He spent a year of his life as a vagabond, and while he can't pretend to know the true extent of what some folks go through, he has a deep empathy for the situation and will be out there making his team proud.


Kagerou will likely not volunteer at first, but easily convinced to come along. In District X, she'll probably even come out of her shell a little, surrounded by other outcasts.

Mystia would be happy to help with the soup lines - as long as it's not chicken soup she's giving out. If she gets a minute, she'd probably want to help Kyouko with entertainment, too.

I'll sign up Natsuno for this since I missed the other plot! He's not good with people.. in general.. so he probably won't be helping with the soup lines or anything, but with his super strength he can definitely be there for the muscle and security part. Especially since no one expects such a scrawny guy to be that strong.

Zian will definitely help.

He's still terrified of showing himself, but he and his mom has been helping District X for years, so he'll be doing medical checkups for the sick. From the sewers if he must!

Takakage will show up as well, tending to the people that Zian can't visit. He'll be working at the hospital as well, so he will come down when he has breaks.

Al will be there helping to direct volunteers, manage the distribution of aid (read: watch and wait for the fighting to pop off), and - deep sigh - chaperone. As a longtime resident, he'd also make a pretty good guide for students hitting the District for the first time, even if he's bound to be extra pissy lest anyone get it into their head that he cares about the neighborhood or something.

Adachi doesn't want to go at all! He hates that kind of thing. Charity, ugh. But he is being forced to go as a part of his therapy, and he's going to be miserable about it.

Life is hard.

(Eren is still a serious flight risk and will not be going anywhere, if anyone wants to plot something with him on campus.)

If that's the case, Kagerou might sneak away from the group and head back. Don't want him to be alone and all that.

Ken probably doesn't need much convincing, so he'll be along. Probably doing something pretty simple/requiring no specialized knowledge, like helping with the food/clothing, and probably also a hilariously tempting target for any FoH harassers given that he's tiny and eleven. HE CAN BLIND PEOPLE AND KICK THEM IN THE SHINS???

Gregory Deegan would like faculty support and permission to hold a benefit concert to raise money for the people of District X. He would love to get other musically inclined X-students together to form a band to help with this. (I was actually going to post exactly this idea, but written more neatly, in the player plot idea. :D )

He will also be willing to help out at the soup kitchens, and if they need a healer. He is perfectly willing to push himself too far, too hard, for the sake of others. Sign him up to do everything!

Eli... already has a clone heading that way, but she can send the clone anywhere the group wont be, so she is happy to volunteer, though she is nervous about doing a good deed where people can see her...

He will show up where they all gather, sure he wont be wanted, but... wanting to help all the same.

None of this makes sense to Rhia. But she can tell that people are trying to help people, and that's something she should learn, right? This all reminds her of a new sapling trying to protect a seed from the wind.

Rhia is in, if a 13 year old who hardly speaks would be welcomed. Probably not, but she is volunteering anyhow.

Elphelt wouldn't be that much help on a defensive front without guns, but she sure can charm anyone who gets grumpy in the donation lines, and smile a lot, and give people coats and things!

Naoto will be of absolutely no use in the powers department, however, will gladly go and help in any other way.

BB is going to be there, of course. He'll be helping dish out food, and making grossed out faces at anything with meat in it.

Of course, if anyone causes trouble, wild bulls couldn't keep him out of the action. He's set a bad guy quota as a new years resolution, and it's time to get started on it

Sun will go along to help out with everything. Giving out food and repairing stuff and using his mutant ability to help out where he can.

Kaito will go and help and supervise, but he won't be that into it.

Volunteering Utsuho here! She's basically a flying space heater, though cold makes her grumpy and disinclined to move. She will if someone asks nicely, though. She can help airlift things in case anything needs repairing, and can also double up as a decent meat shield when/if things get violent.

Alex is up for helping. He'll happily provide a little muscle if possible, but mostly he'll only be good for ladling soup and handing out supplies.

Hijikata isn't going, but he'll offer extra credit on a single assignment to students who do.

Krista will be all over this. Her powers aren't of much use, but she'll carry as much as she can in and look suitably like she's struggling nobly to do her best, and work with distribution and soup-ladling. She will be a sparkling ray of sunshine throughout.

Feliks is ineligible, because he'll be busy with the other event.

Caelius will be going! For the most part, he'll be focused on making sure supplies get distributed and keeping an eye on the students... But, also, he isn't the type to stand by if trouble rears its head.

I volunteer Liir and Reki and both are also up for some combat. Reki can also create temporary shelters with her power and Liir can use the city's animals to find people who need help.
