THE TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag, as well as the weekly updates to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

[To be honest, he'd hardly noticed her at all when he walked into the room, having been focused on reading a book for one of his classes. It wasn't that the subject was fun, in fact it was a pain, but he had to focus to make sure the information sank in.

When he sat down and heard someone say he was sitting on their tail, his first response was to immediately get up and apologize.]

I'm sorry. I didn't see it....[Finally actually looking at her, he's admittedly a little surprised. Not freaking out, but he wasn't expecting that. He kind of sticks out too with his grey skin and black eyes.]

It's fine, no harm done, yeah? [A little bit sore, but otherwise it was just fine. Living with a tail had been something she had needed to get used to. Not to mention all the changes she needed to make in her wardrobe.

Though, Mona Lisa does catch him looking at her. It's the sort of look that she's all too familiar with.]

You got something else to say?

No, I just...I've never seen anyone like you before. Not exactly like you, that is.

[Before he'd fallen asleep, there was another student like her who appeared to have been a mix between turtle and human. That and the fact that his old man was sometimes green meant he was always drawn to other people who were green.]

What's your name?

You're not the only one. Heck, I didn't see anyone like me until ended up like this.

[Someone definitely still has mixed feelings about being green.]

And the name is Mona Lisa.

Mona Lisa...

[Since he's still new to a lot of things, he isn't yet aware of the connection between the painting of the same name.]

I like the color of your skin.

You really mean that? [Her eyes widen slightly, as if she's genuinely surprised to be complimented on her appearance.]

Sorry, I just don't really hear that too often.

[He gives an affirming nod.]

My Dad is green sometimes too.

[As is he, but that's not as important.]

Runs in the family, huh? You're both lucky.

[She holds out her arm, spreading out each of her four webbed fingers so he can get a good luck.]

I ended up with more than just green skin.

[Looking at her hand, he takes a step closer before reaching up to take her hand in both of his. He runs his fingers over the webbed sections.]

Do you use these for swimming?

Yeah. I'm actually a really good swimmer now. I can move pretty fast, and I can hold my breath for a long time, too.

I didn't really think all that much about it before.

Mm. I don't know how to swim. I was supposed to take a class and learn, but then...things happened.

[He was hit with a five year long siesta.]

Yeah, I know what you mean. [Less about the five year nap and more along the lines of things suddenly happening and changing your life.]

There's actually something I can do. And between you and me? It's actually pretty neat.

Wanna see?

[Looking up at her, he smiled ever so slightly and gave a nod at the question before releasing her hand.]

Yes, please.

Okay!

[Mona Lisa gets up from the couch and stands right in front of him.]

Now, just keep your eyes straight on me and watch!

[Before his very eyes, Mona's skin begins to change. But not just that. Her hair and eyes... everything about her begins to literally blend in to the surroundings to the point where she just flat out turns invisible.]

What do you think? Pretty cool, huh?

[He nods as he watches her intently, brows raising as she gradually shifts in color until it's like she's not even there.]

Wow...that's...wow...

[He extends his hand to where she's standing to confirm that she's actually still there.]

Yeah, I thought the same thing when I first found out. [Not only can he still hear her, but he'll be able to actually confirm that she's standing at the same spot she vanished in.

And then, Mona reappears just as quickly, smile on her face and everything.]

Took me a bit of time to get it down, but it was worth it.

[Pulling his hand back after confirming that she hadn't simply ceased to be, he smiled lightly as she came back into view.]

I wish I could do that sometimes.

Trust me, I know how you're feeling.

[Her smile begins to fade, as she looks at her own hand.]

After I ended up like this, my parents started to feel the same way. I even think they wish I'd disappear forever.
