THE TEST DRIVE MEME

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

We also ask that you please pardon our dust. We're working very hard to get this game up and running and hope to be open by September 1st!

[Which is perfectly fine by Toushirou, really. He doesn't really like being touched anyway, though it may be for different reasons than Elsa. In that he doesn't even have a particular reason. He just . . . doesn't like it.

[Besides that, he sees her face fall a bit, and she looks genuinely sorry. He can be a little jerk, but apologetic sad girls hit a weak spot. His frown smooths to something more neutral without a thought on his part.] Yeah, yeah. It's alright.

[See, he's even getting up. He's totally fine.]

[Phew. She's still in diplomatic mode, but looks visibly relieved when Toushirou forgives her and gets to his feet. Elsa pulls herself up to a standing position as well, brushing dust off her dress, and looks at him again.]

Are you a student here?

Why else would I be here? [It's in that same even tone. He doesn't want to snap at her again. But really, why is that even a question? He sure as hell doesn't look old enough to be a teacher -- thanks again, five years in stasis. Though in all fairness he barely looks of age to be a student, either. He looks more eleven than he does thirteen.

[Can't blame the stasis for that one, unfortunately.]

I'm just wondering. [She gets the feeling that this boy is quite prickly, and so she tries not to take it so personally. He most likely does this to everyone.] My name is--

[She pauses.]

[Is giving her name out really such a good idea? Sure, people will find out anyway, but she doesn't exactly want to promote the fact that she is the mutant child of the Norwegian royal lineage...]

--Elsa. My name is Elsa.

[She's quite right about his nature, of course. He's like this with just about anyone.

[He blinks, tilts his head just slightly when she pauses before her introduction. It's odd. Why would she need to stop and think about this?]

I'm Toushirou. [Yeah, he has no idea who you are, Elsa. And even when he does, he won't care. World leader? Psh.]

[frigokinetic]

[She likes you, Toushirou. She likes you a lot. Even if you are kind of cranky.]

It's a pleasure, Mr. Toushirou.

[Even though Elsa knows English, she still doesn't quite understand all the social contexts. So that's why she's calling you 'mister' even though the two of you are just equals having a chat.]

[That seems to be a thing: people being fond of him despite his crankiness. He's not sure why that works, but apparently it does.

[More blinking at the term of address, though.] You don't need to say "mister". [It sounds super weird and makes him sound really old. He's still functionally thirteen, here.] Your second language, right?

Ah... yes.

Was it that obvious? [She asks this in a much smaller, quieter voice.]

Yeah. In English, you usually don't address people like that unless they're older than you or they're in a position of authority or something.

[Sighs at the small voice, though.] Look, it's fine. You don't need to apologize for it or anything stupid like that, so don't.

Oh. [She knew that. She knew that. kjfhjksahf]

I... have been partially studying English for many years, but this is the first time where I have had to speak it more than my native language. I am... a bit nervous.
