THE TEST DRIVE MEME

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

We also ask that you please pardon our dust. We're working very hard to get this game up and running and hope to be open by September 1st!

Swimming on your own merit was all well and good. It was just that... perhaps his standards had shifted a little bit, regarding how far to let people sink before he stepped in. You used the methods that worked, you discarded the ones that didn't.

"I won't be expecting you. All the same..."

He shrugged, and let the thought go unsaid -- if he wanted guidance, it was there, and if he didn't, it was fine. No sense belaboring the point; Toshirou understood.

And Toushirou was the type to try and use all the methods that involved him doing it on his own before going for any help. He'd learned a lot of things at the Institute, but asking for aid was something he'd never really mastered. He was the smart one, the diligent one, the responsible one. He was a team leader, had to be the one to handle problems when they came up.

... He wasn't a team leader anymore; he'd forgotten that again, just for a second. It all hurt more than it should.

But he shoved that down. "Right."

He couldn't guess exactly what was going through Toshirou's head, with any precision, but the general gist of it wasn't too hard to guess at. It was slightly unnatural, to see the young boy so unsure. Not like him.

Lightly, Hijikata put a hand on his shoulder.

"Whatever has changed," he said, quiet, not forcing any eye contact, "there's a place for you here."
