THE TEST DRIVE MEME

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

We also ask that you please pardon our dust. We're working very hard to get this game up and running and hope to be open by September 1st!

"In a way, yes." He flicks his wrist and the water orb evaporates back into the air. "Amongst other things."

Much of his power apart from hydrokinesis stems from his spellbook, and he is not about to reveal it just like that.

Wait a second, that didn't answer her question.

"So is it only water, or is it other things?" she asks again. "You said yes to both." Sort of, anyway. Maybe it's the post-flight exhaustion confusing her. Why did America have to be so far away that she needed to fly?

"Water is my most versatile ability." He does have what she termed as 'psychic' skills, but it pales in comparison to his affinity with water.

... as well as something else. But this something else is usually too taxing to use.

"But you can do other stuff, too." Why didn't he just say that. "I wish I could do other stuff. My powers are cool for a party or something but otherwise..." Maybe she'll learn how to blind people on command here, but she's not sure how light manipulation can be good for much else.

"It can be used to create illusions, perhaps. And if you are able, maybe some laser beams or the sort."

He... can do the latter, but dearly prefers not to. Though her sentiments are something he can understand - it often takes some creativity to come up with practical applications.

Laser beams? Be her own walking cat toy?

Could be fun, if she can even do it.

"I can do illusions, sort of. It's what I was doing with the sofa." She sort of twists her wrist, turning the one she's sitting on from green to pink. "I just make the light bounce differently, though."

"I presume you do know how colours are perceived by the human eye? Perhaps you could fool the eyes of others, and remove yourself from perception."

A pause.

"Though it would take more practice to deceive cameras."

Sadie stops to think about that and then she just smirks. "That's practice I'm willing to do. That sounds so fun, I have to try it."

... to be honest, he is having a little doubt with regards to whether advising her to do this is such a good idea.

But nevertheless... a quick glance around the room gives him enough information to at least pin down the girl's rough grade. Now... if she is indeed who he thinks she is, then she would be able to help him chase down some overdue assignments.

"May I have your name?"

"Sadie Kane. My dad's the Egyptologist." Even if this person didn't care, Sadie's so used to people asking that she just tacks that on to preempt them.

"I see." He says this more as a filler to fill the silence between them while he flips open his spellbook and leafs through the notes he has made. "I believe you are rooming with a certain Mariabell Leif. She has not submitted her Genomics assignment, and it is three days overdue. Would you mind reminding her?"

His eyes have not left his notes, but it is clear that he would not take a refusal for an answer.

"If I see her. I don't actually know anyone here yet, I only got in this morning."

He gives Sadie a faint smile. Most students didn't really realize that he is a teacher until he states it outright.

"I see. Thank you." The administrative staff sure are efficient - he only copied the class list a few days ago. "I wish you luck in your academical year, then."

A pause.

"I am Dr. Kobayakawa, and I teach Biology. I doubt you will be assigned into my class, but if you take the subject and require assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me."

After all, he always has time for students.
