THE TEST DRIVE MEME

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

We also ask that you please pardon our dust. We're working very hard to get this game up and running and hope to be open by September 1st!

'Turtle' doesn't click at first for M'gann when she enters the school grounds and looks around. She's the very image of a new student trying to get her bearings, as she notices something out of place on the buildings. Once she picks out a human-ish outline, all she can think is that there's someone up on the roof, possibly stuck. A potential fellow student in distress, and this is an incredible chance to prove her worth and save them!

She leaves her bags on the ground and jumps into the air in a heartbeat, flying right at him with an excited shout.

"Don't worry, I'm here to help you-!" Which is right about when M'gann realizes that he certainly doesn't LOOK like he's in trouble. No yelling or waving for help, and all told this is pretty far removed from any television images of heroic firemen rescuing people and/or cats from high places. "O-oh. Um... you're not actually stuck on the roof, are you?"

Also, turtle person. She does an odd little hop in the air as that observation clicks, before drawing the obvious similarity between them.

"That... that's a really nice green color you've got, though."

He looks a little bit sheepish once she gets up there - because he certainly didn't mean to give anyone the wrong impression or cause them the trouble of coming up there, although at least, he supposes, the kind of person who drops everything to help someone who might be in trouble probably isn't the kind of person who'd get worked up about it not being necessary.

"No, I'm fine, I just...like a spot with a view." It's functional and strategic, it's aesthetically impressive, and it's not a thing like the tunnels he grew up in. What's not to like?

"Thanks, though. For coming up here...and about the green, I mean. Yours is pretty nice too!"

M'gann pauses over that comment about the view, only now considering just how high up they are. She slowly turns to look over her shoulder, swiveling around from her place in the air as she does so.

"That is really nice! TV doesn't really do views like that justice, huh?" Even in the best nature programs she's seen. (And those rarely focus on New England; once those leaves start changing colors, it should become even more dramatic, to boot.)

She gives a nervous smile at the rest of the comment.

"Y-yeah, I just got worried and... kind of excited about being able to help out. Thanks, too; I worked really hard on getting the color just right!" She looks between her hand and his skin as she says that, and her smile gets a little stronger. "So, are you transferring here as a student, too?"

That she worked hard on the color makes him want to ask if that means she can be any color (and he has the feeling that in a school like this, "what's your mutation" is going to be the ice-breaker instead of asking about people's hobbies or sports teams), but icebreakers are still better used after introductions, so he puts that thought to the side for the moment.

"Yeah, it's my first day." He holds out a (three-fingered) hand to shake. "Leonardo Hamato."

M’gann blinks over the hand for a second, before reminding herself it’s not polite to stare. Golden rule and all that. Besides, that’s still one more digit than she naturally has, so he’s got a leg up on her.

Still, she checks her own hand before reaching out, just to make sure she’s got the right number of fingers and correctly articulated joints. Once she’s satisfied with that, her handshake is plenty eager and friendly… and maybe just a touch hyper.

“M’gann- Oh, but Megan is fine too! Megan Morse. Good to meet another student!”

She might be giggling just a little, almost dizzy from excitement; but how could she not? She gets to meet new people, go to a new school… this is an ADVENTURE!
