THE TEST DRIVE MEME
This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.
Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!
We also ask that you please pardon our dust. We're working very hard to get this game up and running and hope to be open by September 1st!

It really is... terribly unfair. [He keeps his voice soft, because it's not like she won't hear regardless. Then he tries a smile just for the sake of it.] But yes, that's why, you see. I have to remember that being a real teacher doesn't mean I can't have fun.

*Five years. To adults five years is nothing, to Wolverine it means even less. To her? She might as well have died. Everyone she knew was someone else. There were traces of who they were, like an echo removed from its source. But Fai held a bit more of himself, then again he was always older than she was, but rarely acted on it.*
Oh. If that's the case, do you want to go again, I can give you dramatic sneaking music while you escape from your work. Did I really read right, you're the Sex Ed teacher? Are we both glad I took that before things happpenned? *She was trying to play, at the very least. She's not been in a very playful mood since everything.*

[It's a frightfully honest answer, not exactly saying what anyone in Maya's position wants to hear - but Maya has never been fond of being told what she wants to hear, rather than the truth.]
Or, you know, I could just come up there. [His lips quirk slightly, and he can actually feel a ghost of their old banter. It feels good.] And yes, I am. Apparently it is because, I quote, "that man seems like a ditzier stand-in for Emma Frost anyway". I'm not sure what was meant by that, but I'll assume it was a compliment. [You could hear a lot while invisible.]

*That was a bitter joke to make, and Maya regrets it after she lets it out into the air. Maya shrugged at his suggestion.* This is faster.
* She dropped out of the window to hang by her fingertips, dropped from there, kicked off the wall into a combat roll on the grass... that ended with her flat on her back and casually sprawled out like she totally meant to it that way. Which came complete with cartoon sound effects and pratfall music.*
You know, letting Miss Frost teach Sex Ed would make for a lot of boys understanding how to get a girl off instead of fumbling around... No, sorry, I can't do that joke with you looking all old.

[He smiles down at her where she's sprawled in the grass, and then unceremoniously flings him down on the grass next to her - but perhaps a bit further away than he normally would, because some people might take his actions a bit strangely regardless.
He attempts to look hurt, although it's rather spoiled by the laughter.]
Excuse you, I don't think I fall into the 'old as dirt' faction of the faculty just yet. And I'll try to make sure that people have a pretty thorough understanding of sex beyond 'please, for the love of god, use protection', at least.

*She smiles, glancing over at him, she almost reaches out but... it's still weird. Even if he was still acting like himself.*
I didn't say you didn't look good, you know, for an old guy. And I figured years of experience were pretty much how you could teach the class. Experiences I wasn't around to at least try to talk you out of.
Just... I want to go shopping, and get your thoughts on my clothes, and if they are too slutty, and do it without the clerks not only judging us, but the fear they might make a big deal and call the cops.

You make me sound like a silver fox, and I'm not sure if I should be affronted or flattered. I'm in my twenties, not pushing Magneto. [He makes a small, amused face.] And technically it's because I teach biology, but... you probably have a point.
[Fai sighs softly. Maybe he should be a mature adult about this and not encourage her any further, talk about how things have changed. But the thing is, sometimes being a mature adult can make you act like a right tit, and cause you to self-righteously hurt someone you care about.] You know, as long as I get eye contact I can make the clerks think I'm any age it damn well pleases me. [And here's a thing: Fai never ever ever used to swear at all.] And even if I don't do that, who are they to say I can't go shopping with my cousin, or maybe even my sister?

And you should feel flattered, obviously.
*She sulks for a little while longer as she thinks about the suggestion, and the fact that Fai swore, and just... everything.*
Sister, there's enough of a gap now that we could be half-siblings. You know as a staff member there are rules about socializing with students and plotting to lie and use our powers to trick large groups of people, right?
*Then she smiles, and actually opens her mouth to talk for the first time this entire conversation.* Thanks.

[And he does reach out when she finally speaks for real, giving her nose a very solemn prod.] I know there are rules. I also know there are probably rules against stealing the Blackbird, and drinking beer on the job, and visibly smoking within the school - even if you're an air manipulator. But that never seemed to stop the old crew.
As long as I don't take you to a hotel room and get you drunk- [He grimaces sourly, but the expression is gone in a second.] -I'm probably going to be alright. Besides... I've missed you. I've missed you a lot.

*She's kidding! Except that this is an entirely likely scenario as she desperately wants to catch up to her friends. Even if that's impossible.*
I wish I got to miss everyone, I got to wake up to a brand new world with all the same problems. Like a school where the rules are pretty much guidelines and if I could find a boy maybe I wouldn't care so much about the sounds of people having sex.
