THE TEST DRIVE MEME

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

We also ask that you please pardon our dust. We're working very hard to get this game up and running and hope to be open by September 1st!

[In all likelihood, she would have probably just passed him by without a second thought, or perhaps just a quick smile if he looked in her direction.]

...What am I in for? [A pause, and she catches on.] Oh, I regenerate, and I'm immune to diseases and toxins.

His stance and expression flick piqued! Voice is a little of a light and hopeful chuckle - ]

Hey, you can regenerate, too!

Uh -- with me, it's just minor cuts and bruises, and - that sorta thing. -- A-and I can concentrate my energy into a forcefield, kinda, But... that other stuff.

You're practically invincible, huh? [Earnest grin - it's meant to be a compliment.

And don't leave it off there, in case he blew it somewhere - ]

-- What's your name, by the way? [Brushes his hair aside.] I'm Jaune.

Just about. [He seems quite awkward and scraggly to her, but friendly enough, so he gets a friendly smile from her.]

My name's Kaguya. [Named specifically after Kaguya-hime herself by her immigrant parents.] Nice to meet you, Jaune.

[Her smile's a little something to hearten, indeed.]

Kaguya. [Stressing the second syllable, predictably. It's got the tone of a tentatively familiar "gotcha".] Nice.

Uh, that's Japanese, right?

[That gets a small smirk out of her. Well, she supposes most people find it hard to tell East Asian races apart.]

Well, I am of Japanese heritage... Named after Kaguya-hime from 'Tale of the Bamboo Cutter.' [And given her unusually good looks, almost fitting.]

[That smirk, is that - a good thing? He'll hope it's a good thing, keep it up...]

Who was she - a princess? [Dropped and aired a little for (tentative) bantering suaveness and a (tentative) spirit of a wink (not an actual one, don't overdo it, now). The redundancy of asking that after the name "Kaguya-hime" was given manages to escape him.]

[It's as if to say 'It's Japanese because I'm of Japanese decent.']

[In any case, she decided to humor him a little. Getting this sort of attention isn't unfamiliar to her, though.]

Yes, she was. Hime happens to mean princess, so she's known as Princess Kaguya in English.

[He should have known that. He should have known that. Note to self, do some looking into expanding his cultural knowledge, would probably have a good amount of merit in holding conversations among a student body including all types on a level even beyond cultural...]

Well, it -- [Trips it out there.] -- it fits! If... you - don't mind me saying so. [Said in a tone of "Surely you don't". Delivered from a part of his brain rather whispering "Please don't".]
