THE TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

Yeah I just finished my first tour a few months back. Are you not military?

[...you know what, she's gonna pick up the pace a little. Now she's got to show off. Or hit something real hard, and real lots.]

Nope. Wouldn't have been able to shake it. Would have been found out and, well, dad went into some details about what happens then.

[she speeds up and matches Jacqui's pace again]

That's one place where I'm worried. I didn't even know I was a mutant until the attack. I was making the regular delivery from my dad's bakery when it happened.

[she looks down, a worried look on her face]

One minute I'm bringing bread to the kitchen, the next I'm a prisoner in my own body.

[Urge to punch sinking. Actually, urge to be jealous too. As much as she would love to serve, she couldn't imagine being in her position ever.]

That's...kind of a dick move on the whole genetics level.

[She shakes her head a little, before giving her a sideways glance.]

Sorry that happened to you.

[She still doesn't understand what happened. All she remembered was the power coursing through her, taking control. She still has a morose look on her face when she responds.]

I need to understand what happened. It's why I'm staying here. At least until I can control it. What brought you here?

[She nods along, before sighing and staring ahead again. Her expression knitting into an annoyed one]

My old man. I'd be perfectly happy at home still, but he seems to think that puts me at risk. That I should learn more here. We didn't agree, so he pulled rank.

[And after a moment]

...which considering, now makes me sound really petty. Great.

I didn't really want to be here either. I would have been happy serving and working in the bakery the rest of my life.

[She nods at her]

I take it your dad is military?

He was. He retired at Major. He claimed it was fatigue and age. Old injuries from the field acting up and catching up with him.

Course that was all bull, but you wouldn't want to call him out on it. That never ended well for anyone.

Sounds like a vet.

[she looks over at Jacqui]

I'm Alicia by the way. Alicia Melchiott.

[hokutonojacqui]

That's what they call him now. He hates it. Says it makes him sound old.

[She turns her head again, smiling this time.]

Jacqui Briggs. Nice to meet you, Alicia.

[valkyrianflame]

[She smiles back.]

[That smile? Totally now a grin. Because there was nothing she did not like about that little challenge]

Last one there is a rotten egg!

[And without a second thought to it, she picked up the pace and broke into a dead run, laughing under her breath]

And...coming from a farm...I KNOW what that stinks like!
