A Sinister Legacy [Part 4]

Hello True Believers.

I hope you're ready for some events because boy have we got a set for you. Beginning on Saturday and lasting a good while there will be a few games to play for those who are sick, those who are on teams, and those who are stuck back on campus.

-For those who are sick, congratulations, you're going to have a jailbreak. That's right, Nightcrawler is going to bamf you out to the safety of a large boat while the medical staff and doctors are kept distracted by a violent fight between Zancrow and Flik. Nightcrawler's condition has been getting worse and worse and the roguish imp that he is is going to take you to London by boat, to Sinister's first lab where there could be clues to the origins and maybe even a way to hold back the virus.

-Once this event has occurred, a period of a 5 days will pass before the next events start. The first and main event will be one of the X-teams having been specifically sent out after the people who escaped the quarantine. This will put the two groups in direct conflict, there will be a fight as the sick refuse to be trapped when there could be a cure or something they can find to stem the tide and save their own lives. If they are interested, characters who show an aptitude for healing will be allowed to go with the X-team.

-At the same time, the other X-teams will be given individual missions tied into the main plot as well in both combat and non-combat events if your team doesn't feel up to it.

-If your team is interested in a mission, comment under the sign-up post and specify whether you want combat or non-combat. If there is a storyline reason you think your team would chase after the sick, specify in your combat sign up and the mods will decide which team to send adding that factor in to how we choose.

-If you want to be involved, comment under the Individual sign-up comment under sign ups and we'll see about sorting you into a team on a temporary basis for the event.

-As always, if you have any questions, please comment in the appropriate area.

Things will be ramping up over the next couple of months and they start here so get out there and have fun!

About when are we expecting the combat stuff to kick in? Alric's team is still in a very "training half the members to not be walking powder kegs of destruction" stage, still, so just wonder if there's time for them to shape up a bit in that respect. If not, Alric will be reluctant to expose... anyone to them, really, but he'll still lead them if the team's needed.

A bit less than a week; the virus has created a rather pressing need for volunteers. Whether recovering fellow students, a different mission, or further training is best for the team is up to you.

Ah... So... Aqua is among the ill, but... she would believe in trusting in "Master" Xavier, and would be trying to convince them all to go back before they got other people sick...

How... would that work?

You could have her join them and do that or if you felt it fit the character better you could say she wasn't in on the plan and was part of the group trying to stop flik and zancrow while kurt bamfed them all out of there. Then you could either have her stay behind, or join with the recovery team.

My concern is that if she knew about the plan, she would have tried to stop it before it happened, and if she winds up left behind, she won't break quarantine to help. As a professor, she feels she should set an example.... >.>

My guess is this all adds up to Aqua wont have much to do this event?

If that fits the character. I imagine she would probably at least try to help henry and whoever else is trying to stop Flik and Zancrow from fighting. But yeah she would be kept out of the loop.

I missed part of the buildup to this so I'm not sure what's going on.

Is breaking them out necessary for some reason, like the quarantine is militarized now or something? Or is it affecting people oddly? Going for an alternate cure (even if it's Sinister) isn't up for discussion with the medical staff/Xavier? Or sending healthy people to examine it instead of loose canons with sicknesses that affect their powers?

Kidnapping sick kids (while sick himself and thus not in full charge of his powers either) and putting them on a boat that makes them possibly even more sick as the only option for Nightcrawler, while in the process risking infecting the rest of the school seems a little odd so I was wondering what lead up to that.

To my understanding, a large part of the reason for the breakout is Logan and Logan’s usual consideration for doing things properly. The quarantine area currently has extremely restricted access, with many students and faculty stuck there since July. Some of them are going a bit cabin fever crazy, and the plan didn’t come as a complete surprise to everyone—Kurt did his best not to take anyone who didn’t want to go. While alternative treatments have been proposed, none seem to do more than temporarily slow the virus’ progression or ease symptoms not related to a mutant’s powers.

Ransacking Sinister’s old lab has previously been off the table because of its contents’ debatable usefulness, with healthy volunteers better sent elsewhere. Dr. McCoy has made similarly little headway, and Nightcrawler’s worsening condition has pushed both Kurt and Logan into making that rash decision. Exposure to other students and staff has been minimized due to the nature of Kurt’s teleportation.

If a character is not in not quarantine, but has a combat role, when does he/she jump in? Will you send us a PM with assignments or do we have to just kind of make a judgement call?

Same question if the character has a non-combat role.

Sounds like the Guardian Dragons, including the remaining two members of X-Force who are joining up (in currently backdated stuff) will be available for any emergency needs! They can do combat, although Alric will stress they're still in training, and should only be called on if it's critical.
