A Sinister Legacy [EPILOGUE]
While the threads didn't finish, in the interest of moving things along at a healthy pace, we've decided to go ahead and post the results of the Sinister Legacy plotline!
Here they are as follows:- Sinister himself is now in SHIELD custody, beaten by the team and arrested when SHIELD arrived on site to close the deal. Sinister himself didn't seem particularly broken up about this, saying it was but a temporary setback, and he's already done enough damage as it is.
- Sinister has the same "En Sabah Nur" tattoo that Shaw had.
- Renko was saved, and her DNA was used to create an actual cure for the Legacy Virus, and is being mass produced and distributed immediately.
- Renko, however, carrying the burden of her own mutation being used to perfect the virus' second strain in the first place, how she might have been used to create a third, and the general "you're great grandpa was a psycho corrupted darwinist who tried to kill millions of people, including other 'weak' mutants" thing is weighing heavily on her. Publicly, Claudine Renko is now dead, and she's relocating to Japan to live under a new identity, and try to get some meaning back to her life. She didn't name a successor, and mentally can't handle the responsibility of doing so.
So, with all that wrapped up, expect a Newsreel Mingle up soon... however we have an even bigger announcement to make...
And then...
True Believers, we've had an excellent run, but the writing is definitely on the wall, and the mods have all agreed... It's time to kick this sucker into overdrive and speed headlong towards the finish! That's right it's...E N D G A M E
Here's how it's going to work, for now, and we'll release more plot details as it goes along, but if you've been paying attention (and are at least somewhat X-Men savvy) from the beginning of Institute's second run, we've been leading the game along towards one of the X-Men's biggest and baddest, APOCALYPSE, and Sebastian Shaw and Sinister were serving as two of his Horsemen (War and Pestilence) respectively. The end game plot will not only reveal the other two horsemen, but also the big blue lips himself will arrive and try to do what he does best; ending the world as we know it.
As part of this, and this is the part you wanna pay attention to, ALL CHARACTERS PAST AND PRESENT AND EVEN FROM THE FIRST RUN OF THE GAME ARE WELCOME TO RETURN!!! No apps will be taken (we'll be closing applications and reserves outright) and AC will just be check-ins from here on. This will be a no pressure, hopefully super fun, final event for the game so that we can go out in style instead of with a whimper.
Tell your friends! Tell your neighbors! Tell your weird uncle! Anyone that has played in the Institute is welcome back to get this thing rolling! And we do mean RIGHT NOW! As soon as the Newsreel Mingle goes up, characters from the game's past can start commenting and posting (just remember to rejoin the game if you left the comms)! Let's have fun, True Believers!
As always, if you have questions, feel free to post them below. We'll also put up a subthread for returning characters to announce they're back, and where they've been!
QUESTIONS!

Communicating proactively about what your character does and does not have OOC permission to do, with other players and with us when NPCs or major plot points are involved, is your job as a player. Keep in mind that in the context of collaborative gaming, it isn't better to beg forgiveness than to ask permission; if you're unsure whether something is alright, in every single instance, ask, and be respectful of the answers you're given. Do that, and you won't need us watching. Don't, and our watching won't be of much use until after boundaries have already been overstepped.

Like if someone were to make a post about something mundane like sports or the weather, would newly returning characters be able to comment and interact in those or should we all just keep it event related?

PLOTTING!
Juri Han
that being said, she's still not super fond of genocide (unlike her canon self) and will happily return under SHIELD's watchful eye in order to lend a hand, or foot.

probably both simultaneously

Parsee Mizuhashi
Parsee, the green eyed monster of jealousy, will be returning, too. Maybe alone, maybe with friends, but she's here to help Kisume in her time of need. Family sticks with family.

Maya Matlin & Laura Kinney
If anyone would hear about the end of the world, it would be Maya Matlin. Who thinks its as good a reason as any to go on break from her tour. She'll be back and a little tiny ball of emotions and hearing.
She'll try to be helpful how she can, listening for trouble and trying to make the most of her abilities. ...And trolling some people at the school. And then trolling the bad guys.
Laura Kinney
Logan's baby girl will also be back. She's been... putting her past behind her. Taking apart anyone trying to weaponize Mutations in ways she finds offensive. She traveled the world, and beat faces in multiple languages. She'll be coming back because she really dislikes all the jerks involved in this.
She's gotten a little better at being human! She has figured out contractions, and how to have fun! Fun that isn't stabbing people.

I'll probably pass on Morph as I haven't been feeling him at all, but here are the rest!
Sogetsu Kazama
He's been keeping quiet and doing his own thing as always, but now he's sporting a mysterious blue scar over the right side of his face. And he's ready to throw down.
Eddie / Zato
Let's face it. He just wants a reason to kick some ass. Any reason will do. Oh hey big giant blue guy? Okay.
Tomas / Slayer
The journalist has been spreading the good word about the school, and it's time to be roped back in. He's doing it for the kids.
Ky Kiske
From the first round of Institute, the former Brotherhood-turned-X-Man is now working as a cadet officer and aiding mutants overseas. He has more experience under his belt and controls his lightning much better. He'll gladly aid the place that gave him a new path in life.
Venom
The little bookworm bird is all grown up. Now he has full control over his powers, can actually fly, and has been living the peaceful university life. But can he fight? Let's just say he's been doing some training on the side.

YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY?
Janaff
aka the instructor who threw a student out of a multi-story window to help said student learn how to fly.
It worked and he hasn't done it since, hush.
He was recalled to New Zealand to do some things for his king aka AU!Tibarn let's be honest, but things have gotten squared away enough back home that he's managed to secure travel back here.
He actually likes some of you, you know.
