Brief Personality: She's basically the eternal onee-sama; kind, generous, guiding. She's too old to get all Class-S at though. Oh, and she has the ability to be 'possessed' by other peoples' personalities at any given time so sometimes she doesn't act like herself. Should be fun.

Brief AU History: Basically: She comes from an island where they worship the moon, her father and brother were doctors who owned the one and only hospital in the area, and she was screwed from the start. She received her mutant gift from her mother, who was a first gen that had no idea how to control her power. Her father went a little crazy after her mother died and started doing horrifying experiments on people in an attempt to find a 'cure' for Sakuya. Also, she has a daughter that would be about college-aged now. Don't ask who the father is.

Joined School: Hmm. Not too terribly long ago; long enough to settle down, so a few months?

Character Name: Tohru Adachi
Character Journal: denialism
Canon: Persona 4

Brief Personality: Adachi appears bumbling, lighthearted and ridiculous, but he's inwardly something of a nihilist, with a sharp edge and a cynical side. He doesn't make friends easily.

Brief AU History: Adachi used his powers for evil. At first, just for petty evil, but when his abilities were augmented by an unknown mutant, he got in a lot of trouble and nearly obliterated the minds of everyone in the town where he lived. Oops. It was fun at the time, but now he's basically under house arrest and close observation at the school. That's no fun.

Joined School: He came to the school from Japan two and a half years ago. However, he was initially in a holding cell under the school and was only allowed to join the staff half a year later, after he behaved himself perfectly for a while. Now he's playing by the rules! Adachi is often out and about on campus, but he keeps to himself. Whenever he gets in trouble for acting up, he's removed from active duty and sometimes disappears from public view, as he has to go attend counseling, his least favorite thing. So, it wouldn't be odd for someone on campus not to know who he is.

Plans/CR seeking/other ideas: One part of Adachi's AU involves the fact that some—but not all—of the faculty know his situation. He's being given a chance to start over, but Professor X also wants people keeping an eye on him. So if you'd like to have your staff/faculty character know about Adachi, we can discuss it. Alternately, if they are completely ignorant of his background, that could be interesting to work with, too. Also, Adachi has recently been assigned the job of "security student liaison", meaning he has to talk to kids, which he's super annoyed about. Basically, this job title only exists because his counselor wants him to interact with people more. If your student character would like to become involved with security, either by getting in trouble or needing help, or even assisting security, that would be great. Since he doesn't like people much, and it's his tendency to remain aloof, I want to find more reasons for him to interact with others. I'm open to most anything! If anyone has any ideas for a character's dealings with Officer Adachi over the past couple years, I'll probably be able to work with it.

Oh, and to have him be the patient for counselor-types would be great, too!

Is it okay to make Test Drive threads game canon?: Yes, but let's talk it out first!

So! I have two here, both of whom have been around for a while, and I'll separate my thoughts on them:

-Hijikata here has been a teacher for a long-ass time (~10ish years), and might be in the know about Adachi. He's suspicious, grumpy, and faintly misanthropic as a rule -- he might get on with him a little if he didn't know.

-Feliks had a test drive thread with him -- I'm okay with making it canon or not, though I feel like it'd be a little odd if he's been around for a while. Feliks is, as a rule, pretty spacey, but certain red flags can set him off quickly, and he has basically no inherent respect for authority. Between that last factor and how damn trollable he is, if you did want to disregard their test drive thread, I could kind of see him being involved in one of Adachi's previous "incidents" if you'd be interested.

Character Name: Alex Rider

Canon: Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz

Brief Personality: Alex is a charming, but reserved young man with a strong instinct to protect others. Good at reading people and figuring out how they tick, he makes friends relatively easily when he actually sets out to do so. He's also the sort of person who will throw himself into situations without thinking, if he sees someone else is in trouble. However, outside of sports teams, Alex has trouble working as part of a team and is self-reliant and independent to a fault. He keeps a very cool head in dangerous situations, using humor and sarcasm to maintain his composure. But even though he presents a carefree and nonchalant attitude, due to all the stuff below he’s anything but.

Brief AU History: Alex grew up in London, England with his uncle, Ian. Life was great until his uncle died shortly after Alex turned 14. As it turned out, Ian was a spy. And a mutant. Plus, Ian's boss knew all about the fact Alex was a mutant. Through some very underhanded emotional manipulation (aka blackmail), Alex was forced to became Britain's secret teen spy. Over the next year and a half, he completed nine 'missions'. Some were at the behest of MI6, and for some he was 'loaned out' to other agencies, including the CIA and the ASIS. This all concluded a few months ago with the worst 'mission gone wrong' ever. MI6 reluctantly terminated its usage of Alex and allowed him to move to the States. He attempted to attend a 'normal' school at first, but recent events changed his mind.

Joined School: Beginning of October

Plans/CR seeking/other ideas: Alex has absolutely no intention of joining an X-team, ever. That doesn't mean he won't go shoving his nose into things if there's a whiff of trouble. He can't help himself.

Alex is heavily involved in sports. He's fantastic at soccer, not bad at tennis, and enjoys rowing. He's also really good at snooker, so if someone teaches him American pool, he'll probably be pretty good at that too. Biking, skiiing, scuba diving, you name it he's probably tried it. He also studies karate and is a black belt.

He also likes video games. (I however, am rubbish at them and know nothing about them.) He'll have brought a PS3 with him and several multi-player games. Also, beware of playing cards with him, he has a really good poker face.

Academics-wise, Alex is a pretty dedicated student. He's best at maths and science, but he's also good with languages. He speaks French, German, and Spanish fluently, but he'll still be taking French classes. He has some interest in acting and had a part in the school musical at his last school.

Alex is dealing with a lot of emotional trauma right now. Guidance counselor characters, someone is going to end up with this mess.

So from the looks of it, Alex is roommates with this amateur psychotherapist. If he needs to talk to anyone, Yu will definitely stare blankly and nod for as long as he needs.

He might think the spy thing is cool, unfortunately, but he knows when to keep his mouth shut.

Character Name: Shindou Takuto

Canon: Inazuma Eleven GO!

Brief Personality: Shindou's a serious and polite teenager who focuses a lot on his responsibilities to others - family, schoolmates, adults, etc. He tries very hard to put up a strong front so he won't let anyone down! But he's also a very emotional and sheltered, little rich kid who likes classical music and cats and sometimes get overwhelmed and just wants to cry or hit someone while blasting Beethoven. Or something like that. He's got a clever, strategic mind but is none-too-worldly, can be rigidly assertive at one turn and threatening to disappear off into a corner to cry the next.

Brief AU History: From a fabulously, stupidly wealthy, Japanese background. Grew up in Tokyo, didn't have any problems hiding his powers until a shady group scouting for mutants outed him in front of his school's soccer club. Became mildly famous for his school winning a national football/soccer championship with open mutants on the team roster...and also for helping to shutter an abusive training center for young mutants run by said shady organization.

Afterwards, joined Xavier's and gradually got drawn into joining up as an X-Men trainee. Saw field action on at least a few occasions before Jean Grey went all Phoenix and froze him in time for a few years. Is back after five years of stasis as of the start of this term and gradually getting back into the swing of things.

Joined School: Fall Semester, 2012, as a high school freshman. Re-joined at the start of the 2014-15 school year as a sophomore.

FOR RETURNING CHARACTERS any important information to fill in between the last time the game was open and now?: Shindou's been stuck in suspended, temporal animation for five years, as a side-effect of exposure to the Phoenix Incident. He hasn't aged and has no memory of the interceding period, having effectively blinked and woken up a half-decade later. It's freaky but also means that he's still very much the same kid, trying to play very much the same role as before. (At this point he's had some time to start to adjust to the whole time-jump situation, but it can still be super-awkward.)

Plans/CR seeking/other ideas: I'm open to just about anything, but here's some stuff I'm especially interested in!

(1) X-Team Stuff - Getting back on a trainee team is probably Shindou's biggest IC goal at the moment. He's chatted about the possibility of joining up with one or two people, but nothing's set in stone yet. If all else fails, he could theoretically spear-head forming his own group, but I would honestly rather him play the voice of reason/level-headed second-in-command kind of role as opposed to positioning himself as an outright leader! (Which, incidentally, would probs be his preference IC, as well.)

(2) Mutual Antagonism/Negative CR - Shindou can be pretty set in his opinions/views, and, though he tries, his sheltered upbringing means he doesn't have the broadest range of experiences to relate to others with! Which is to say that, when someone gets off on the wrong foot with him, he can be pissy and judgmental forever, if nothing gets in his way. And pissy, judgmental Shindou is like my favorite thing to write, so please give me lots of opportunities for it.

(3) Dumb, Teenage Shenanigans and Drama - When he's not being a grossly over-responsible prodigy-slash-junior-superhero, Shindou is also fifteen years old. But he's too much of a schoolboy angel, most of the time, to get up to anything that falls into the realm of "embarrassingly terrible ideas that high-schoolers have." Please contribute all your bad influence characters to help rectify this situation.

(3b) Stupid, Shippy Stuff - As a subheading for the previous thing, Shindou's also not found much time for crushes and awful, high school relationship drama, and I shamelessly want to rectify that. It doesn't even have to be successful shippy stuff; he's way more likely to be woefully dense or avoidant about feelings he has/feelings anyone else has for him around the school.

(4) All the Soccer Club Stuff - This pretty much goes without saying.

Hanabi will join Soccer Club! Or if it clashes with Martial Arts club, she'll at least be open for playing the odd game of soccer here and there. She likes sports and I was actually going to have her post to the network to see if anyone wanted to join her for a game.

Shindou is welcome to be judgmental of how naive Giselle is, too. She's generally a sweetheart though, so I doubt their CR would be terribly negative.

Brief AU History: Liir's the son of the Wicked Witch Of The West, who in Wicked Years and XI AUs was a famous revolutionary and folk hero (Oz in XI being a large island in the north Pacific). He grew up rather isolated. After his mom's death, he wandered to the Emerald City and joined the military under a false name for lack of other opportunities. There he did some things he's not proud of, before burning some important stuff down.

Brief Personality: Tough guy on the outside, artistic caring sort on the inside, someone who's trying to understand that he doesn't have to be macho about things to be strong.

Brief AU History: Born in a small town in Japan, discovered his mutation when he was about ten years old. That, on top of his craft hobbies being seen as girly, meant he wasn't a popular guy, and started lashing out... Moved to the States two years ago after someone caused an incident around his hometown that really brought the mutant-haters out in force... He's been somewhat unsuccessfully trying to get his act together since then, and came to the school after smashing and electrocuting a biker gang who were disturbing his ma's sleep. As you do.

Joined School: This September.

Plans/CR seeking/other ideas:
* Kanji is definitely going to be looking for a team! Sadly, it's got more to do with wanting to prove he's strong and worthy than any better cause, at present...
* Artsy buddies? He's still kind of awkward about his interests, though this is improving.
* Ship interests... his sexuality is a can of worms, but I'd love to give this a go.
* Anyone who doesn't mind getting yelled at.
* Anyone who'll help him learn to 'be himself' - after all, in a place like this...

She also has the uncomfortable habit of being taken over by other people's personalities and they then get to see said personalities reflected back at them with, as I read in a wonderful fanfic once "all the brilliance of a shattered mirror". Might help him have an existential crisis or three when he starts to see eerie similarities in a too-long talk some day and then realizes holy crap that's how other people see him he doesn't really want to be that way.

Character Name: Michael De Santa

Canon: Grand Theft Auto V

Brief Personality: Michael is a sarcastic asshole who covers up his own misery with denial. He thinks of himself as the "good guy" of his own life but he's actually an ex bank robber. He generally tries too hard to get the students to like him because of his low self esteem but can be incredibly rude to his coworkers depending on if he likes them or not. Basically at first glance he'll seem like a pretty cool dude but if you really get to know him you'll realize how pathetic he actually is.

Brief AU History: BRIEF IS DIFFICULT because the guy is pushing 50 but I'll do my best.

He was born as Michael Townely; he killed his abusive dad at a pretty young age, which is how he discovered that he's a mutant to begin with. He kept it under wraps for the most part until his senior year of high school when he accidentally outed himself during one of his football games and got chased out of town. He used his mutant abilities to become a really good bank robber.... until the FBI caught on. Luckily Xavier caught on to the situation and "invited" him to join Institute as a teacher which... he kinda had no choice but to accept. It was either that or go to jail and have EVERYONE in jail know he's a mutant.

So yeah he's just been hanging around teaching Stealth to students with abilities more like his and filling in and teaching whatever needed teaching. More recently he got his Film Studies class approved and he's super excited about that because he's a nerd.

Joined School: It was nine years ago, so it would have been 2007.

Plans/CR seeking/other ideas: Oh god there is a lot I want. A LOT. Canonly he makes friends with a dude younger than him named Franklin who looks up to him as a role model at first, but then slowly realizes that Michael is not a good role model for ANYONE. But Michael still calls him his son and they have a close bond and Mike def needs a few Franklins, sane younger people who can call Michael out on his shit.

But yeah his relationship with any of his students is going to be pretty important? He's taught a lot of different assorted classes which he HATED teaching so obviously students can know of him because they had a class with him. He'll likely have current students in his Stealth Instruction class, which is more like an extra training for students with stealth based abilities. There's also going to be kids enrolled in his brand new FILM STUDIES class which he is so excited about.

Honestly considering the rumors going around the school about him being an ex criminal with a hair trigger temper AND being here for nine years it wouldn't be too shocking if students have just heard of him based on reputation alone. I'm fine with pretty much every student just knowing his name/reputation.

COWORKERS oh boy. Uh he probably either hates you or likes you. Or hates you while also liking you at the same time. Michael is generally more of an antisocial guy but he'll hover towards anyone who's as shitty of a person he is. He'll probably be kind of off put by generally nice coworkers because he'll feel like he can't trust you. If you drink or smoke, that's a plus, and for the smoking you've likely taken smoke breaks with Michael because he's a notorious chain smoker. Honestly if you drink he has likely tried to pal up with you just to get some booze at one point.

Also, romantic shit? Why not. Michael's a married man and he has a wife and two kids living on the mainland in New York but that doesn't stop him from cheating. (Yeah, that's canon.) So if anyone wants to have some sort of weird implied relationship in the past with sexual tension and shitty angst I'd be down with that.

Giselle's been a student at the Xavier Institute for over two and a half years now. Although she's kind of naive, she is also psychic and unafraid of calling people on their shit when they need it (albeit she doesn't swear or yell, really - she's just very persistent). She's a sweetheart, though. I think she would enroll in Film Studies, because she's had a lot of exposure to the entertainment industry and enjoys it.

Then there is Hanabi, who is a tiny ten year old workaholic who just started school at the Institute this September. Michael is likely aware of the incident where she killed two would-be kidnappers accidentally in self-defense. One of her powers is superhuman vision (she can see through walls, nearly 360 degrees around, and also inside people like a human x-ray/ultrasound machine) and she's very interested in martial arts, so she's probably taking his Stealth Instruction class.

Brief Personality: Real life Disney Princess. Seriously. She's a strong believer in the power of true love, warm, caring, optimistic, naive, loves to sing, and generally a total sweetheart.

Brief AU History: Giselle grew up as an only child in a very wealthy household. Her parents had new age beliefs, and both were heavily involved in the entertainment industry. Small wonder that she got so into music herself. Her psychic powers first manifested when she was twelve, although she's only been at the school for a little over two and a half years after an accident with her powers that involved hypnotizing a large crowd into a spontaneous musical number.

Joined School: Beginning of December 2015
Plans/CR seeking/other ideas: I am looking for all the CR! In particular, I'd love musical buddies, other characters with psychic powers, anyone who needs a positive influence in their lives, grumps to either find her relentless optimism grating or begrudgingly endearing, people interested in kendo and fencing, kids for her to act big sisterly toward, adults to watch out for her since she's kind of naive...lots of things! Come at me, bros. Oh, and she will probably eventually join an X-team, although it's not something she's immediately looking at doing.

When I see characters like Giselle, I dearly want a school musical to happen. Alex isn't all that musical, as he's mostly a jock, but he got a part in a school musical at his last school. So apparently he can sing.

But mostly, he needs someone really positive in his life. He won't act grumpy, but he has Issues, and being around someone positive is good for him. Plus he lost his big sister figure recently, so yeah, female friendship is a good thing.

Brief Personality: An ultra-serious and polite ten year old workaholic who seems older than she really is. Hanabi enjoys martial arts and other sports and she's driven to excel.

Brief AU History: Hanabi was born in Japan to the wealthy Hyuuga family (known for both its martial arts style Gentle Fist, as well as its company that produced revolutionary laser surgery technology) and immigrated to the United States when she was three years old. Close to the end of the previous school year, two men from a kidnapping ring tried to abduct her. That was when she learned that her mutation wasn't just a physical one, but that it was actually quite lethal.

Joined School: This September, start of the school year

Plans/CR seeking/other ideas: Hanabi will probably try to join an X-team if anyone will let her. For CR I am looking for all the surrogate big brothers and sisters, as well as surrogate aunts and uncles ever. Also, martial arts and sports friends. I welcome all CR though!

Brief Personality: Way too serious 13-year-old who grumps too much and is almost always working in some way or another. He can be abrasive and sarcastic, but ultimately he's a good kid, loyal and protective to those he thinks of as friends.

Brief AU History: Born in Japan, orphaned at four, sent to live with his maternal grandma in the Seattle area. He started manifesting his power in his sleep shortly after his 12th birthday and never noticed it proper until he accidentally froze over a convenience store. He tried to get it under control on his own for a while, but he wound up freezing another kid's arm during a schoolyard fight and got expelled. When he first joined the Institute, he just wanted to learn to control his power and go home, but a series of events lead him to be a student team leader and his priority has since changed. He's been in stasis for the past five years.

Joined School: Fall semester, 2012 as a 7th-grader, and then stasis happened. He's rejoined the school as a 9th-grader (yep, he skipped) the beginning of this school year.
FOR RETURNING CHARACTERS any important information to fill in between the last time the game was open and now?: Stasis was a thing for him, and he only came out of it about a week before classes started. He's had a bit of a tough time dealing with the fact that his team has grown up and moved on without him, and has been feeling more melancholy and out of place.

Plans/CR seeking/other ideas: Eventually, he's going to start building a team again. Once he feels he's "in shape" for it. Really, he's still got some emotional hangups about his stasis, and those are what's holding him up instead of anything physical. He's the type to bottle up emotional issues instead of acknowledging and talking about them, so any counselor characters would be awesome. And have their work cut out for them. He's in the kendo club and on the soccer team, so there are some avenues right there. People to annoy/befriend him and try to get him to do fun things are more than welcome as well.

Brief Personality: Kyouko is a Buddhist Neophyte, having lived and worked at an all-mutant temple in Japan prior to being sent to the Institute. She tries to live by the principals of her faith pretty closely, but she's ALSO a hardcore punk rock princess who wants to fight the power and rock it out loud. These two kind of conflict at times.

Brief AU History: Kyouko was an orphan and would-be Morlock back in Japan before she was taken in by the Myouren Temple, a Buddhist 'family' of mutants that started to attract some negative attention as anti-mutant voices grew louder in Japan. With authorities in their own country still silent and indifferent to the mutant plight, the leader of the Temple contacted Xavier and had Kyouko, their youngest member, sent to the Institute where she'd be safe.

Joined School: Kyouko joined at the beginning of the year

Brief Personality: Miko is pretty casual, and easy going, she also has a pretty big ego. She knows she's hot stuff, and the truth is, no one can really argue it. She does know her limits though, so she'll never boast about something she can't actually do. Due to her power of enhanced hearing allowing her to pretty much figure out what people are thinking and feeling she tends to carry conversations at her own pace skipping large bits of it. She also has a charm and charisma about her that tends to enthrall others. Definitely a "School Idol" type.

Brief AU History: Mko is the heir to a huge influential family in Japan, the sort of family everyone has heard of but unless told didn't actually know they were connected to just about everything. Internationally they are best known for their corporate exploits, domestically they are known for both politics and corporate dealings. Miko has basically lived her entire life as a prodigy and has had the lap of luxury to go with it. She has little understanding of actual Mutant issues as her family simply started acting as if she were a living god when her powers showed up.

Brief Personality: Overly optimistic and energetic child who has too much soccer on his brain. He does get depressed however, and puts up a fairly good mask for everyone who doesn't know him that well so he doesn't trouble them. He knows his own strengths and weaknesses, and genuinely tries to overcome them, but sometimes he falls shorts. He is the type who won't give up unless he feels like he's hurting people.

Brief AU History: Although he had a psychic outburst when he was only 3, it had been an automatic response to planks nearly crushing him, and the only witness had been a passerby. Originally from Okinawa, he moved to Tokyo at an early age and somehow only had one friend that wasn't the very concept of soccer itself. When Tenma finally entered Middle School, he was quickly swept up in pro-mutant activism, fighting against a shady anti-mutant organization... Through soccer!

He would only find out about his own mutant powers after winning the national soccer tournament from none other than the person who witnessed and saved Tenma from the planks. He transferred to the institute soon after, but kept out of the field due to his lack of focus. Ended up in stasis for 5 years after the Phoenix Incident.

Brief Personality: Beast Boy is a class clown. He feeds on attention, whether positive or negative. Despite being a little insensitive, he's friendly and helpful as a general rule, preferring to be involved with the people around him. Contrasting that is his slacker, prankster personality. He lacks drive, so while he might like to hop on board a hundred projects, he's never going to be the guy spearheading them unless it's something really fun. When it does come to his interests, he's easily excited and prepared to talk about them to no end.

Brief AU History: After his hermit scientist parents got fridged at a young age, Beast Boy joined up with and was eventually adopted by a hero team called The Doom Patrol, dedicated to hunting down The Brotherhood of Evil (which I'm going to go ahead and say is a codename). He has a few years of experience with them, but as he grew up he started to chafe under their leader's stern thumb. He saw Xavier's Institute as an escape, a chance to get away from his team and out among people, something that he'd never had a chance to do on account of his visible mutation.

School was not the vacation his teen dramas promised. Beast Boy is struggling in just about every academic class. It isn't helping that he's joined a bunch of clubs, and is trying to worm his way onto an X-Team, but those are the things that make school worth putting up with to him. He's starting to learn how to study under the supervision of a few friends and teachers, but it's going to be a long process.

Brief Personality: Pretty quiet and blunt, but otherwise has a lot in common with a puppy. He gets very excited about new friends because he didn't really have any until he got here. He's also kind of fragile and unstable, due to more trauma than anyone his age should be subjected to, but also as a result of that he's very desensitized to normally taboo subjects. He may randomly mention killing his father with a golf club. ALSO, anyone who spends any amount of time around him is subject to accidentally using one of the voice commands the scientists in Rapture imprinted on his mind. Which work in text, too. If anyone uses "would you kindly" in day-to-day conversation, they'll learn the effects pretty quickly.

Brief AU History: Once upon a time a Russian millionaire ran away to the bottom of the ocean and made the city of Rapture. Then a con artist stole son and turned him into a genetically engineered assassin with fake memories. And then the kid came back to Rapture, killed his father, killed his creator, killed about half the city, and got trapped before he could escape the city. Xavier rescued him about 60 years later, but he hasn't aged since he was four. Not that he looks like it; Fontaine had him built to already look like he's in his 20s.

Also Rapture is currently infested with terrifying mutated creatures that ended up like that because of drugs that would make the U-Men wet themselves. Jack's taken the drugs, but the powers he got from them are no longer available to him.

Joined School: He was rescued in mid-August and joined classes in September.

PEOPLE TRIPPING INTO HIS COMMANDS but aside from that Jack just needs more of everything. More friends, more enemies, more confusing people he's not sure where he stands with, maybe a few people to run to and cry on when he's distressed. The more positive CR he gets, the more he can open up and start figuring out how to deal with being a freak of nature even by mutant standards. But on the other hand, negative CR is just super fun when it results in a toddler-level meltdown from what appears to be a grown ass man.

Brief Personality: Al is borderline amoral, the kind of man who puts next to nothing above his own self-interest. Despite that, he's also got an impressive sense of foresight and restraint, meaning that he tends to end up acting in a shockingly decent manner quite often, as a way of playing a long game. He's brash, proud, and (though he'll often affect an overly-civilized, polite manner) wildly vulgar.

Oddly, he's also (maybe just because of his age at this point) got something of a mentoring side. He doesn't let people he's stuck associating with sell themselves short, and he'll try to teach even the most hopeless cases to make themselves useful, if they seem to be in his corner. He's the most horrible life coach you could ever hope to have.

Brief AU History: Born in England, moved to Chicago as a kid, was orphaned after his powers developed. Knocked around for a while before turning his powers to crime out west. Eventually, came back to NYC to found Gem, one of the first openly mutant-centric bars in NYC. Gem, located in the city's mutant ghetto, District X, served as a front for Al's interests selling drugs and running prostitutes for years. He was an absolute scoundrel, but (while people who crossed him tended to turn up dead) he also used his power in the neighborhood to limit violence and negative press against mutants as much as possible.

Predictably, his first run-in with the X-Men wasn't a warm and fuzzy one. But he eventually decided that Xavier's kids had their uses, and, as Al's business grew increasingly legitimate, he was even invited briefly in 2013-14 to run a tutoring group. He left shortly after the X-Men's first clash with the Sentinels to focus on warding off anti-mutant violence and attempts to break up the mutant population in District X prompted by the Project Wideawake crisis.

At this point, Al's business is pretty much entirely legitimate, if only because he'd been in jail otherwise, and, with tensions in the District calmed down somewhat, he's come back to the school to give it another go.

Joined School: 2013-14, originally. Mid-October of the current IC year, most recently.

FOR RETURNING CHARACTERS any important information to fill in between the last time the game was open and now?: Al played a major role in putting a halt to attempts to drive mutant residents out of large parts of District X and claim title to land/buildings in the District by a corporation playing on anti-mutant sentiment. So, folks who keep tabs on events in New York's mutant community might have heard about that.

He's also just generally further removed from criminal activity than during his previous stint in the game, having gone begrudgingly legit. He's still got a pretty shitty reputation, though, that being said.

Plans/CR seeking/other ideas: Most anything! But, in particular:

(1) Students! Al is going to be teaching Armed Combat, with a focus on honing and practicing skills without the use of mutant powers. His basic class is probably going to focus primarily on fighting with/against modern firearms and then knifework, but students who already have particular weapon-skills are welcome to sign up for advanced practice with those. (Just be ready for Al to make fun of you for fighting with a trident or a samurai sword or a shovel or whatever. This ain't a Kurosawa movie, kids.)

(2) Miscreants/less straight-and-narrow kind of students that Al can provide shadier mentoring too! If you're going to turn out to be a scoundrel like him, he might as well teach you to do it proper!

(3) Characters who might want to pay a visit to Gem! Al still owns and operates the bar when he's not at the school, so having other folks get out to it would please me greatly. Whether it's faculty stopping in for a barcrawl, underage kids trying to pass off fake IDs, or even some over-21 students who'd maybe like a part-time job holding down the bar nights...!

Brief AU History: Russian second-gen mutant that was infected with an anti-mutant disease at a young age and lost his ability to speak, eat and breathe normally. His technopath father fixed him up and he now speaks via ASL translated by a robomask. Moved to the US at 10 and has ties to the morlocks - with his father helping the Russian branch and then living with the New York branch for a time as an adult.

Joined School: Literally just put his bags down in his room. He came to the school the 11th of October this year and is still settling in.

Plans/CR seeking/other ideas: All the friends! After having a bit of a rough patch in his life, Zian is just looking to start over and make a new life. He's a big dork and probably does well with students and faculty alike, and he's only 21.

Trust him, he used to kill for a living. And he sold his daughter.

Brief AU History: After slaughtering crowds for a living until he was 20, Booker fell into depression and the habits of drinking and gambling until he had to give up his daughter to save himself from debt. About 18 years later he got kidnapped by the people he sold his daughter to and had his memories rewritten to include a giant multiversal adventure to save his daughter from a tyrant who turned out to be an alternate universe version of himself... none of which actually happened, but he doesn't know that. And then they froze him and shipped him to Xavier to use in case of emergencies. And he has no idea where his daughter is.

Still, that doesn't stop her from being overly sarcastic and cynical, and with a preference for dry humor. If you ever want a dose of a possibly harsh truth, Raven's always there to fill that need!

Brief AU History: Raven was born a mutant and grew up a social outcast during her time in school. Her powers didn't manifest until her dad went on a drunken rampage, causing her to just snap, leaving him in the hospital and herself without a home. Realizing that she couldn't let that happen again, she enrolled in Emma's School for Girls until her progress was enough to have her sent over to Xavier.

Brief Personality: Azusa, before she came here, had a terrible case of chuunibyou. Since she left middle school she's evened out a little, and learned that she wants to make friends, and that means putting aside some of her more childish delusions. That said, she's still pretty embarrassing, often talking in terms of anime and manga and the like, or just using her Photokinetic abilities to make sparkles appear when she introduces herself, or a comic rain cloud follow her around when she's upset.

She loves rumors and gossip, trying to get as much as she can. She makes up plenty, which can sometimes lead her into trouble. Though it's never outright malicious, just things like oh those two boys must be in love and are secretly dating, that sort of thing. She's crazy into romance, reading a lot of manga and novels, as well as a fan of video games. So just a big time nerd.

Even though she might come off as delusional and maybe a little out there, she has a good heart! She's the type who would quickly stop acting silly if she ever got in trouble, or made someone upset. She's even more than a little caring, bringing homemade lunches with her and happily offering to share whenever she can.

Brief AU History: Growing up, Azusa used to pretend she was a 400 year old magician, which became her entire life. She didn't just roleplay on the internet, she made that her persona, and refused to accept that she was actually a normal girl. Before she even noticed her real abilities she was writing out magical spells in a giant book, making useless love charms to give out to those people who would even put up with her in school. She was childish, delusional, and embarrassing to be around, like when she suddenly called out that the "There is a Goblin in the bank!" when she saw a short man in the bank, out with her father one day.

Azusa's grown up a lot since then, almost passing for normal once in a while, until she opens her mouth and talks about the Chi in the room or something else without thinking. It's almost embarrassing for herself sometimes what she catches herself saying.

Joined School: Sometime a year ago or so! So if anyone wants to know Azusa as a reporter for the school newspaper, or a rumor monger, or just a huge dork, that's cool!

Also a bit awkward because he comes from China and suddenly cultural shock.

Brief AU History: Your typical headstrong Chinese teenager, grew up with big dreams and aspirations which were unfortunately crushed by an anti-government secret society that killed his mom when he tried to evade them. Basically his life up till now has been complete shit, and he's here to hide from the Chinese government and better himself so he can go back to his friends one day.

Joined School: Literally just settled in and then the U-Men attacked.

Brief Personality: A kind, quiet, gentle man, who nonetheless has a stubborn streak a mile wide and the potential to be intensely wrongheaded. He loves simple things, and his hobbies include creative writing and photography. He likes working with children, and he has endless patience with them. He may seem easy to push around, but you can only push him so far, and he won't hesitate to go against the status quo.

Brief AU History: Kariya's family didn't hate and fear him for being a mutant. Instead, Kariya's father, a mutant and mad scientist, scorned and derided him for developing a "weak" power and turned him into a science experiment. Kariya's power is to communicate with and command worms of all kinds, and his father genetically engineered parasitic worms to live inside him, making him a biological weapon. After it all went horribly wrong, and some people died, Kariya was rescued by a group allied with the X-Men, and sent to America to receive medical treatment. He eventually became well enough to continue his schooling and is now a certified art therapist.

Joined School: He's been around for a couple years. People may be familiar with him as a counselor or as the groundskeeper, because he has taken on both jobs.

Plans/CR seeking/other ideas: Anything and everything! I'd love CR of all kinds for him, positive and negative and all things in between. Brief Personality: Rinka is a kindhearted and empathic person. She is really protective of her friends and has absolutely no patience for bullies. If she sees something wrong, she'll try to do something about it, whether that means kicking ass and taking names or providing a shoulder to cry on. However, her pride will be her downfall.

Brief AU History: Rinka grew up poorer than a church mouse. Her ex-cop father was pushed out of the police force for trying to root out corruption (and for being a mutant) and afterwards couldn't hold down a steady job. By high school Rinka was working part-time at a restaurant to make ends meet. By chance she encountered a boy just as her mutant powers emerged, and he soon had her running around Tokyo as a mutant vigilante duo, protecting the public from mutants who were misusing their powers. Trained from childhood in martial arts by her father, Rinka is a capable fighter, even without her mutant power.
