THE TEST DRIVE MEME

Hello, True Believers!

This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.

Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!

Oh god okay that's happening he's actually carrying her inside. She'd just intended on him picking her up and setting her down immediately but this is fine. Everything is fine.

It's much warmer inside anyway, and she stretches when she's set down.

"I'm going to go put my coat away...I'll be back, I guess?"

She shrugs.

"Oh.. sure."

He'd been hoping to spend a good and proper amount of time talking to her, but he's not going to stop her from running off. He just nods and takes a step back.

"I'll be around here if you need me, I guess. Don't be a stranger."

She is absolutely a stranger and it's the weirdest goddamn thing.

She's back again fairly soon, though even she doesn't know why. Maybe because he's so...friendly? Is that it? It doesn't sound quite right. And while she does look around for the strange giant, she's really hoping it seems casual.

At least six foot two toddlers are easy to spot. And boy, does he light up when he sees her again. Although he's nervous to just approach her again, since, well.. it's Jack and he didn't notice the effort she put into finding him.

Jun is forced to approach him instead and, like the smooth child she is, ends up rocking on her heels for a moment before she can actually think of what to say.

"So, um...what do you do around here?"

[the_prodigal_son]

"A lot of things." is the most concise answer he can give. He's never liked spending too long on one sentence.

"Whenever there's no classes Beast Boy and I play video games and watch movies and things like that. But I like my classes, I barely know anything that they teach here since I've been under the ice so long..." It's still freaking him out how familiar she looks, "Do you like video games?"

"Video games?" Is that some kind of slang? Mei never mentioned something like that... "How does that even work?"

"You don't know about them?"

His face brightens up immediately. He knows something other people don't know! And it isn't something depressing! Amazing!

"They're this thing that I don't really know how it works but you plug a thing into a TV and stick another thing in it and you connect a controller and you can hit buttons and punch zombies in the face and I'm really good at it but Beast Boy gets mad when I beat him."

"Zombies..? What are you going on about?"

Jun is completely lost and kind of scared now.

"They're like splicers but they died instead of doing drugs."

....Jack, that's a terrible description what the hell.

"....I mean, they're dead people that come back and try to kill you."

"W-what? That happens?"

Jun has started crying because that is literally the most terrifying thing she has ever heard and she can't deal.

"Woah, wait-"

HE FUCKED UP SHE'S NOT ALLOWED TO CRY HE CAN'T HANDLE THAT.

"They're- they're not real! I mean splicers are real but zombies aren't, dead people stay dead- I think- no, uhh... please stop crying, holy shit."

Nope. She's crying. It's too late. But she is able to vaguely gesture that she wants a hug.

Well, he's not gonna wait to be asked twice. He's just going to carefully hug her. Ever so carefully, because he feels distinctly like she's made out of porcelain just like his perfect little sisters were. He's so sorry.

She is made of porcelain tho

Jun quiets herself almost immediately after being hugged. She now has a source of warmth and also it's her first time hugging a man oops.

Jack doesn't really think about it past the point of 'she stopped crying'. And that calms him down plenty, too.

"Are you feeling better?"

[fire_and_romance]

"Yes. You're very warm.."

And now that she thinks about it he's pretty attractive, too. You know, for a giant marshmallow. She can work with that.

"Oh. Am I?"

He is warm. He has a very nice soft sweater that has been recently introduced to fabric softener and stain removers. It's nice to not have dried blood chafing him when he hugs people.

The temptation to hide in his sweater is very strong. But..that would be weird. Jun is not weird. She is a normal human child.

"You are. Very warm. And tall. How did you grow that big...?"

"Uhhh..."

Well, he's been honest with most people so far... he's nervous to bring it up to new people, but he is determined to be friends with her.

"I was built this way. In a lab. By scientists."

[fire_and_romance]

"So you're like...a genetic experiment?"

Now Jun is intrigued. She knows nothing about science, but that sounds really cool. She saw it on a tv show once.

"I guess. Yeah."

He doesn't like talking about it, but he's been setting himself up for talking about it a lot recently.

"It's a really long story. But I was built to... mm, nevermind. Let's not talk about it."

"I was kept in a basement for most of my life."

Jun tenses up, realizing what she just said. Why would she tell him something like that? She'd already sworn she wouldn't go around telling people...

Oh. It seems he does have someone to share his troubles with, then.

"I was made to assassinate someone. Now that he and my... the person that bought me... are dead... I'm not really sure what to do with myself."

"I don't really know what I'm doing either..There's too much to take in."
