THE TEST DRIVE MEME
This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.
Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!
We also ask that you please pardon our dust. We're working very hard to get this game up and running and hope to be open by September 1st!

No modesty, false or otherwise there. It was just a fact. He was smart enough, did well enough that it was entirely warranted and it was ridiculous to downplay it. Even at his old school, there had been talk of skipping him ahead. But then the mutant thing had happened and suddenly the option had been taken off the table. Tolerant community back home his ass.
They'd given him the option here, when he'd . . . woken up, to just continue on a normal educational track instead of the skip that had been planned for him. He'd considered it for all of ten seconds before deciding to keep plowing forward on the fast track. He'd never done things halfway before. Why start now?

"Still. No matter how far ahead you are, there's a chance skipping will mean you missed out on learning some of the base information meant to help you understand later concepts. If you need a review of anything..."
A small shrug. "You know where my office is."
It wasn't an attempt to dissuade him -- on the contrary. He didn't want to see Toshirou have to give up, if it got discouraging. He rather doubted he'd accept the offer of help, but it seemed right to offer anyway.

"I'm sure I'll be fine."
He'd sink or swim on his own merit. Being encountered with anything difficult just made him work all the harder to overcome it. That was the way he was, would always be. You get knocked down? Then you get up and fight harder. Still . . .
"But yeah, I do."
Keeping options open never hurt, right?

"I won't be expecting you. All the same..."
He shrugged, and let the thought go unsaid -- if he wanted guidance, it was there, and if he didn't, it was fine. No sense belaboring the point; Toshirou understood.

... He wasn't a team leader anymore; he'd forgotten that again, just for a second. It all hurt more than it should.
But he shoved that down. "Right."

Lightly, Hijikata put a hand on his shoulder.
"Whatever has changed," he said, quiet, not forcing any eye contact, "there's a place for you here."
