THE TEST DRIVE MEME
Hello, True Believers!
This is for anyone wanting to test out their characters in the setting before the applications open, see what clicks. Multiples will be allowed for this post, and you can generally assume any threads are a self-contained continuity unless you feel like getting creative.
Just post a thread with your CHARACTER NAME and CANON NAME in the title with a prompt and others will reply. Prompts and threads can be action spam or prose or whatever. These threads can be used on the sample section of your application, as well. Go out and have fun!
Be sure to read up on all game information and the "!event" tag to make sure you have all your ducks in a row.

Tohru Adachi | Persona 4
Hiya, kids, this is Officer Adachi of Security. Maybe you've seen me around. Club day's coming up, and I want to be the first to tell you about a new group we're forming at the school.
[This isn't his doing. It's stupid. But he's supposed to try forming bonds with these brats. Or something.]
It's the Junior Security Club! Sorry about the name. Wasn't my idea... But—it's a great club for anyone who's interested in solving crimes or public safety. So, if you're interested or have any questions, let me know. Or check out our table on club day.
2. Lunchroom, noonish:
[Adachi never sits with anyone else, making a point of choosing an empty table. If the tables are full, he'll generally snatch up a sandwich and leave. But today, he has an entire table to himself. He's spread out his various food items, and he has his notebook, pen, and textbook: Advanced English Grammar. He's sprawled out and seems to be having a good time. However, the seats are starting to fill up...]
School grounds, evening:
[It's evening, and getting close to the time that students are meant to be back in their dorms. Adachi suddenly steps from the shadows—or at least, that's what it seems like. He's just doing his regular rounds!]
Hey, you're out late, huh?
[He smiles.]
Everything okay?
2; evening
I'm fine... -A flat lie. She had been stalking about for awhile now, trying to hide herself.-
no subject
He's here to help. Or something. Supposedly.]
Hm, you sure about that? What are you up to out here?
[He doesn't seem to be chastising her for being out late. He's just curious.]

Here's the fun part. Since we're just starting the Junior Security Club, you'll get to have a say in how it develops.
You're right, there aren't many dramatic crimes. No murder or anything like that, but students do break the regulations, which can cause problems.
[Basically: it's really, really, really boring.]
And there's trouble from humans sometimes, so we've got to watch out for that. And look out for the younger kids. You know, there are a lot of little things to do to make the school work great, that most people never think about! It's not all glamorous. But it's got to be done.
[He's supposed to encourage people to join, so he's kind of doing that, but he also wants to discourage them as well. Because this sounds like a real pain.]

I'm not interested because of any prestige that it might bring. I just want to help keep everyone here safe. If there are individuals causing a commotion, it can make it difficult for students to learn.

[...Wait, he's not supposed to talk to teachers who aren't his age that way. Oops. Guess he forgot again?]

Ah ha, do you know what Security does? Can't go bothering the X-teams with contraband and curfews, they've got more important things to worry about. And we don't want all the kids out doing that kind of dangerous stuff. Not everyone's going to end up an X-Man, you know.
[Just look at this man right here. This man will never be an X-Man.]
No, it's not like that. It's more like ... every slot here's filled by its own special dick. You want the right dick for the job, you know?
[Really, he should not be encouraged to join in with more dick metaphors. Wait, this guy's an adult, right? Uh, he hopes so...]
no subject
Well... Well, yeah, for sure! I mean, you can't be too picky about that kind of stuff, right?
Uh.
[What can he say that isn't awkward?]
But maybe I already have a dick I like!
[Oh, Jesus, that really wasn't it, he feels like he's going to blush so hard he combusts...]

Nothing!

Somehow, he's not buying this incredibly unconvincing excuse. He folds his arms and starts to circle Beast Boy, slowly.]
That's a whole lot of nothing, kid.
[Nothing here is strictly contraband, but taken all together, it's pretty suspicious. Looks like it's time for him to do his job.]
Where'd it come from? Don't tell me your power's creating useless stuff.
no subject
Most of it's just garbage. No big deal, dude--sir!

2/lunchroom
Hello. You're studying English?
no subject
After a moment's blank stare, though, he smiles.]
Ah, hi. Yes! Here, let me...
[He replies in English, holding up his book and animatedly rearranging his things to allow the kid more room. He's clearly not a native speaker, but his English is good enough.]
I used to study it in high school, but after that, I didn't use it, so I forgot a lot. Need to speak the native language. Makes things easier, you know?

I learned some from school and some from my parents, myself. I only really know the basics.

This is just some public safety crap, give me a break. What, you got a problem with hall monitors? I'm trying to make it sound interesting to the kids.

And then Adachi shows up. Fabulous.]
What's it to you?
[Why yes, he is going to be uncooperative. Partially because he has no idea who this guy is, but only because while yes, he is a student, he's 20 and thus obviously doesn't have to answer to anyone.]
no subject
[There, now Ragna knows who he is! Problem solved. He's just a regular guy, out earning his keep.]
Just doing my job. You know, making the rounds, walking the beat, checking things out.
[Adachi augments his English learning by watching a lot of cop shows. He smiles.]
So, that's what it is. To me.
no subject
...this place can actually afford security?
[Surprisingly serious. With how often things get broken, this is news to him. Then again, this guy is a bit scrawny. If he's the security, it's no surprise why he never noticed it before. Nevermind the fact that he's never been the most observant of people.]
(no subject)
2/evening
Fine.
[He replies after a long pause, looking Adachi over before deciding he's harmless. Smaller than him, and friendly-looking. Should be fine, right? Everyone else has been since he got rescued.]
What're you doing? [He says as if he isn't obviously nowhere near the dorms nor going in that direction. He may or may not have been planning to sneak into town.]
no subject
[When you suddenly step out of illusion pockets that you were goofing off in when you're supposed to be working, it gives you the advantage of surprise! Not that Adachi had realized that anyone was out here in the real world. The timing had worked out well.]
I'm on patrol. Security. [He flashes his official badge, for fun.] Just making sure everything's all right while you kids are in bed.
[There is a slight meaningfulness to those last words, suggesting that Jack doesn't seem to be headed to bed at all.]
no subject
[This is a complete and utter lie, but his lineface works to his advantage. No one will suspect he is 20 years younger than he claims.
He pauses, and then raises the big red wrench in his hand to show it off.] I'm not gonna get hurt.
[Seems reasonable.]
